Aquone (pronounced uh-KWAN-nee) is the home in Johnson City, Tennessee, where Tennessee jurist and historian Samuel Cole Williams lived in retirement. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Aquone was built in 1925. It is a 2+1⁄2-story brick structure in the Colonial Revival style. Leland Cardwell, a Johnson City architect, designed the house, modeling it after the design of an unidentified Colonial mansion built in Maryland in 1748. The house is on a 3.6-acre (1.5 ha) lot between Roan Street and U.S. Highway 11E and is screened from those roads by trees and a terraced lawn. At the time of its construction, the site was north of the city limits of Johnson City. The interior of Aquone is laid out according to the center hall plan, with an entrance hall and stairway flanked by a large formal living room on one side and a large formal dining room on the other side. An unusual feature of the house is a one and one-half-story library that is said to have been modeled after Sir Walter Scott's study in his home at Abbotsford House. The living room and dining room both have fireplaces with Georgian-influenced mantels. The library fireplace also has a Georgian design.The name Aquone is reported to be a Cherokee word for "resting place."

Steve Spurrier Field at Kermit Tipton Stadium is a 6,600-capacity multi-use stadium on the campus of Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee. In addition to serving as home to the Hilltoppers, the stadium played host to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers football team while their own facility was being built. Kermit Tipton Stadium was built to replace the aging Memorial Stadium located near Howard Johnson Field. The stadium was named for Kermit Tipton, a former head football coach at Science Hill High School, and later principal of Johnson City Junior High and Independence Hall Junior High.

Princeton Free Will Baptist Church, formerly Thankful Baptist Church, is a historic church building at 104 Water Street in Johnson City, Tennessee. The brick church was built in 1912 to serve Thankful Baptist Church, an African-American congregation. Thankful Baptist Church moved to a new location on Watauga Avenue in 1975. In 1977, the congregation sold the Water Street church property to Princeton Free Will Baptist Church.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The Mall at Johnson City is an enclosed shopping mall in Johnson City, Tennessee, United States. The mall features over 90 stores and a food court. It is managed by Washington Prime Group. Opened in 1971, the mall features Dick's Sporting Goods, HomeGoods, Belk, and JCPenney as anchor stores, with more than 90 inline tenants.

Thomas Stadium is a baseball venue in Johnson City, Tennessee, United States. It is home to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southern Conference. Opened in 2012, the facility has a listed capacity of 1,000 spectators. Features of the stadium include an LED video board, a FieldTurf playing surface, stadium lighting, berm seating, concessions, and restrooms. The stadium replaced Howard Johnson Field as the home of East Tennessee State's baseball program.The playing field at Thomas Stadium opened on February 17, 2012, when East Tennessee State defeated Eastern Kentucky 8–3 in front of 327 spectators. The stadium itself opened on February 15, 2013 with a 6–4 loss to Penn State with 910 in attendance. The largest crowd to fill the stadium occurred on April 9, 2013, when 1,752 fans attended the Bucs' game versus Tennessee.

The Mountain Branch, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers was an old soldiers' home opened in 1904 in Mountain Home, Johnson City, Tennessee. Its site has since been taken over by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and is home to the Mountain Home National Cemetery and the James H. Quillen VA Center. Also known as the Mountain Home, its campus was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 2011, as a well-preserved example of an early 20th-century veterans care facility.

Mountain Home National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located at Mountain Home, within Johnson City in Washington County, Tennessee. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 99.7 acres (40.3 ha), and as of 2018, had over 17,000 interments.

East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is a public research university in Johnson City, Tennessee. It was historically part of the State University and Community College System of Tennessee under the Tennessee Board of Regents, but since 2016, the university has been transitioning to governance by a separate institutional Board of Trustees. As of May 2017, it is the fourth largest university in the state and has off-campus centers in nearby Kingsport, Elizabethton, and Sevierville. ETSU is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity." It hosts the James H. Quillen College of Medicine which is often ranked as one of the top schools in the United States for rural medicine and primary care education; the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Nursing, the College of Public Health, and the recently formed College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences. Unique programs include an accredited program in Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music, America's lone master's degree in Storytelling, and the Appalachian Studies programs, focused on the surrounding Appalachian region.
