Ferdinand Peters House

The Eugene Hermanutz House is a historic house in Cold Spring, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1912 for one of three co-owners of the Cold Spring Brewing Company. The Eugene Hermanutz House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and industry. It was co-nominated with the other two Cold Spring Brewers' Houses, the John Oster and Ferdinand Peters Houses. Their importance derives from representing industrial entrepreneurship, for their status as Cold Spring's finest houses, and for being the most intact surviving buildings associated with Stearns County's important brewing industry.

ROCORI High School is a high school that serves three Minnesota towns, whose names form the acronym "ROCORI": Rockville, Cold Spring, and Richmond. The Rocori High School shooting was a school shooting that occurred at Rocori High School on September 24, 2003 in Cold Spring, Minnesota, United States. The shooter was identified as 15 year-old freshman John Jason McLaughlin, who murdered 14-year-old freshman Seth Bartell and 17-year-old senior Aaron Rollins. Prior to the shooting, McLaughlin was described as "quiet and withdrawn".

Assumption Chapel, also known as the Grasshopper Chapel, is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church (German: Wahlfahrtsort) (German: Gnadenkapelle) situated upon a hill known locally as (German: Marienberg), meaning "Mary's Mountain", on the outskirts of Cold Spring, Minnesota, in a region of Minnesota largely settled in the 1850s by German-American Catholics who were attracted to the area by Fr. Francis Xavier Pierz. Although inspired by ancient traditions carried to America by local peasant-pioneers from Southern Germany, the chapel was constructed in 1877, as a desperate petition to the Blessed Virgin for relief from the Rocky Mountain locusts; a now extinct species of giant grasshopper, whose enormous migrating swarms blotted out the sunlight and devastated farming communities throughout North America between 1856 and 1902.

The Birch Lakes State Forest is a state forest located in Stearns County, Minnesota. One of the smallest Minnesota state forests, it is managed primarily for recreation by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Big Birch Lake, a 2,112 acres (855 ha) sand- and marl-bottomed lake, is accessible from the northeast corner of the forest. The forest is located in a transitory ecotone between the temperate deciduous forest to the northeast and the tallgrass prairie to the southwest, with the rolling terrain characteristic of the glacial activity in the area. Outdoor recreation activities include boating, fishing, swimming in Big Birch Lake, as well as hunting, picnicking, and backcountry camping in the forest. Trails include 7 miles (11 km) of hiking, 7 miles (11 km) of mountain biking, and 4.1 miles (6.6 km) for snowmobiling.
