Kartal railway station

Kartal Park (Turkish: Kartal Parkı) is an urban public park in Kartal district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is owned by the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul. The park features artificial mist accompanied with colorful light effects and classical music attracting local residents in hot summer days. Kartal Park is located alongside Turgut Özal Boulevard on the seashore of Sea of Marmara in Kartal district in Istanbul, Turkey. Owned by the Metropolitan Municipality is of Istanbul, the urban public park covers a total area of 7,583 m2 (81,620 sq ft). It as developed in two stages by adding a green area of 2,857 m2 (30,750 sq ft) later to the initial park with 4,723 m2 (50,840 sq ft) area.72 palm trees are planted to both sides of the park, and 12 different seasonal flower vegetation decorates the park. Architectural structures of the park are arcades flanking the walk ways and long pools.

Kartal Surp Nişan Armenian Church (Holy Cross Armenian Church) is an Armenian Church located in Kartal Municipality, Istanbul. The facility was built in the 16th century as a chapel. It collapsed and was rebuilt as a school and church in 1776. Since 1857, the church was renewed. It has been in service since 1 September 1857.The church is a property of Kartal Surp Nişan Armenian Church and School Foundation.

It is located on the Asian side of the city, on the coast of the Marmara Sea between Maltepe and Pendik. Inland from the coast, the land rises sharply up to the hills Yakacık and Aydos, the latter of which is the highest point in Istanbul.

Başak railway station (Turkish: Başak istasyonu) is a railway station in Kartal, Istanbul on the Marmaray commuter rail line. The station is one of three new stations built on the line along with Ataköy and Darıca. Başak station consists of an island platform serving two tracks and a third express track on the south side. The station opened on 13 March 2019, together with phase II of the Marmaray project.

Muhammad Maarifi Mosque (Turkish: Maarifi Sultan Camii) is a historical mosque in Kartal district of Istanbul, Turkey, which was once a Rifa'i Tekke.The area of the mosque was a khanqah of Rufai order which was built by Muhammad Maarifi since 1818. The khanqah was damaged during the 1894 Istanbul earthquake but was soon restored. The 1925 religious reforms banned khanqahs in Turkey, and the facility was turned into a house. By about 1940 the building was derelict except for the prayer hall and tomb. Repairs started in 1964, and in 1976, the building was turned into a mosque. In 1980, a minaret and a sadirvan were built over the mosque.

Yunus railway station Turkish: Yunus istasyonu is a railway station in Kartal, Istanbul on the Marmaray commuter rail line. It is located on Tercüme Avenue, one block north of Çetin Emeç Boulevard on the coast and is the easternmost station in Kartal. The original station was opened on 22 September 1872 by the Ottoman government, as part of the railway from Kadıköy to İzmit. In 1949, the station was rebuilt and expanded to two side platforms, serving two tracks. Commuter rail service from Haydarpaşa to Gebze began in 1951 and the station was electrified in 1969. The station closed down in 2013 for the construction of the new Marmaray rail project and was demolished shortly after. In 2016, the current station was built as an island platform serving two tracks, with a third express track on the south side. Yunus station was reopened by March 12, 2019.

It is located beneath the D.100 State Highway in the Esenkent neighborhood and is the westernmost metro station in Kartal. Connection to IETT city buses and Istanbul Minibus service is available. The station consists of an island platform with two tracks and was opened on 17 August 2012. It is located next to the Anatolian Palace of Justice.

Kartal Anatolian High School (Turkish: Kartal Anadolu Lisesi) is a selective-entry Anatolian High School in the Kartal district of Istanbul, Turkey. The school was founded in 1985 originally to serve the children of Turkish families that had lived in Germany. Its premises have a capacity of 500 students. Entry to the school requires passing the national LGS (Liseye Geçiş Sınavı) tests for high school admission with a result within a specific percentile that is set annually. The school offers 4 years of standard education and a year of preparation for new students in language. The language of instruction is Turkish. Courses in English and German as foreign languages are offered, including for the German B1 and C1 certificate examinations. The school magazine Gençkal includes contributions from students.
