Deepwater Bay is a saltwater bay of the Salish Sea on the southeast side of Cypress Island in the U.S. state of Washington. It was the site of an unintentional release of aquaculture-raised Atlantic salmon in 2017, the Cypress Island Atlantic salmon pen break, initially blamed on the Solar eclipse of August 21, 2017.

The Secret Harbor School was a private boarding school on Cypress Island in Washington state. It was known for its unique educational approach and natural setting.

Cypress Island is the westernmost part of Skagit County, Washington and is about halfway between the mainland and offshore San Juan County. It is separated from Blakely Island to the west by Rosario Strait and from Guemes Island to the east by Bellingham Channel. The island has a land area of 5,500 acres (22 km2), and a population of 40 persons as of the 2000 United States Census. The Washington Department of Natural Resources manages about 5,100 acres (21 km2) of the island and leaves the island in a natural state. Cypress is heavily forested and has a system of trails linking various parts of the island. In roughly the middle of the island is a lake of about 7 acres (28,000 m2). On the southeastern corner of the island is a sheltered bay featuring a salmon fish farm. Cypress is not served by ferry and there are no public utilities on the island. The island is a popular destination for kayak trips due its relatively close proximity to the mainland and to the camping available at two sites on the east side. Sheltered anchorages for boaters can be found in Eagle Harbor with public state park facilities.

Strawberry Island is a small island in the San Juan Islands of the U.S. state of Washington. It is located in Rosario Strait near Cypress Island and closes Strawberry Bay. The island is managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources. Strawberry Island has long been popular with kayakers. In 2010, due to budget cuts, the Department of Natural Resources prohibited overnight camping. George Vancouver named Strawberry Bay and Cypress Island in 1792, but left this island nameless.

Sinclair Island is an island in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a part of, and lies off the western shore of mainland Skagit County. The island has a land area of 4.109 km2 (1.586 sq mi) and is home to only a few private residents. The name Sinclair was given by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838–1842. It honors Arthur Sinclair, who was captain of General Pike during a naval battle of the War of 1812.Settlers in the 1890s referred to the island as Cottonwood Island, after the lumber harvested there for making barrel heads and staves.

Guemes Island is a small island in western Skagit County, Washington, United States. It is located north of Fidalgo Island and the city of Anacortes, and is accessible by private boat and by the Guemes Island ferry operated by Skagit County. Guemes Island was named after the Viceroy of New Spain, Juan Vicente de Güemes, who commissioned an expedition that revealed the islands to Spain in 1794.

Little Cranberry Lake is located within Anacortes Community Forest Lands on Fidalgo Island in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Washington. The lake is deepened by a dam on the northern end which was constructed in the 1930s. The previous dam had broken in 1921 releasing a large amount of water which crashed down the hills to the beach.The lake basin is part of a 10-mile long, north-south wilderness corridor that roughly follows an ancient moraine, which snakes its way down the middle of the island. This moraine is a major source of gravel for the region which adjoins Anacortes, Washington. The trails in this corridor are maintained but are of variable quality. Almost all are ideal for mountain biking, in particular. Little Cranberry Lake is a popular swimming location, especially for visitors to the annual summer music celebration, What the Heck Fest.

Anacortes High School is a high school in Anacortes, Washington, United States. It is operated by Anacortes School District, also known as Anacortes School District No. 103.A building project at the school led to a claim from Sturgeon Electric, an electrical construction subcontractor, over unexpected expenses.

The Oyster Run is a motorcycle rally held annually each September since 1981 in Anacortes, Washington. It is the largest rally in the Pacific Northwest with 2006 attendance estimated in the tens of thousands.There was no rally in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic.

The Wilson Hotel (also known as the Wilson Block) is a historic building in downtown Anacortes, Washington, United States. It was built in 1890 during a speculative land boom when cites across northern Puget Sound were competing to become the western terminus of the Great Northern Railway's transcontinental route. It was designed by Pickles and Sutton and built by David Wilson, all of Tacoma, and was built of locally made brick. The building's design is Romanesque with masticated stone bases, rounded windows and roman arches. Rechristened the New Wilson Hotel after a remodeling in 1911, The hotel was expanded in 1926 with a 4-story addition that matched the height of the original 3-story building. It served as a hotel into the 1970s when it was converted to apartments. Recently, the Wilson underwent complete restoration and earthquake retrofitting. The work was completed in 2007. The Wilson currently features retail on the main floor and low income housing on the upper floors.
