St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy (formerly St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School) is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Whiston in the English county of Merseyside. The school is named after Saint Edmund Arrowsmith, one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. Formerly St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School was located on Scotchbarn Lane. In 2010 the school relocated to a new building located on the site of the former Knowsley Higher Side Comprehensive School on Cumber Lane. The new-build was funded as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme, and the new school was named St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning. In 2018, the school was renamed back to St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School.St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School was a voluntary aided school administered by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. In 2019 the school was rated 'Inadequate' by OFSTED and was placed into special measures. In May 2021 the school converted to academy status and was renamed St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Pope Francis Multi Academy Trust. It continues to be a Catholic School under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool.

It is situated on the electrified Merseytravel Liverpool to Wigan City Line, 8+3⁄4 miles (14.1 km) northeast of Liverpool Lime Street. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Trains, however the station is branded Merseytravel using Merseytravel ticketing. It was opened by the London & North Western Railway in July 1891. Electrification of this line was given the go-ahead in November 2010. On 17 May 2015, electric train services began on the Liverpool to Wigan line, operating Class 319 electric multiple units.

Whiston is a town and civil parish within the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley in Merseyside, England. Previously recorded within the historic county of Lancashire, it is located eight miles (ten kilometres) east of Liverpool. The population was 13,629 at the 2001 Census, increasing to 14,263 at the 2011 Census.A new village, Halsnead Garden Village, was approved with government support in 2017 and will be located in the Halsnead area of the town. The new village will contain over 1,500 houses, a primary school, a country park, and various community and leisure facilities. Construction is estimated to cost around £270 million.

Flat Iron Building, also known as 72 Ecclestone Street, is a historic building in Prescot, Merseyside. It was built in 1890 to service Prescot's extensive watchmaking industry.

The Prescot Playhouse was an Elizabethan theatre in the town of Prescot, which was then in Lancashire. The playhouse was built before 1603, probably in the mid-1590s, and probably remained in theatrical use until 1609. It was one of the few free-standing theatres in England outside London, and probably hosted performances by the playing companies maintained by the Earls of Derby.

Prescot Urban District was a local government district in the administrative county of Lancashire, England from 1895 to 1974.the main settlement of the district was the town of Prescot. In 1974 it was abolished and its former area was transferred to Merseyside to be combined with that of Huyton with Roby Urban District, Kirkby Urban District, parts of Whiston Rural District and parts of West Lancashire Rural District to form the present-day Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley.

Prescot Museum is a local museum in Prescot, England. The museum focuses on topics relating to the history of Knowsley, its people and local industries such as coalmining and watchmaking. In 2012 the museum building was purchased by the Shakespeare North Trust and its contents now reside in Prescot Shopping Centre.
