Because it shares the same frequency as Class A clear channel station WOR in New York City, WROM is a daytimer. To avoid interference, it must go off the air at night, when radio waves travel farther. It is also heard around the clock on 250 watt FM translator W276CL, 103.1 MHz, from Atlanta Junction, a section of Rome.

Riverbend Mall was a shopping mall located in Rome, Georgia. It was open from 1975 to 2002, when it was demolished and replaced with a strip mall. The mall was built by the Ledbetter family, local developers that continue to own the property it sits on today. The Mall was the scene of a notorious kidnapping on September 25, 1982, of thirteen-year-old Lisa Ann Millican, by sexual predators Alvin and Judith Neelley. Millican was subsequently murdered by the Neelleys.

The East Rome Historic District, in Rome, Georgia, is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The listing included 112 contributing buildings on 60 acres (24 ha).The district is mostly residential. It is roughly bounded by Walnut Ave., McCall Blvd., E. 8th and 10th Streets in Rome. It includes a commercial area around the intersection of East 8th and Second Avenue plus the northern end of Maple Avenue. This area includes a two-story brick former fire station, a frame retail building, and some former residences now used commercially. Another small commercial section is on Maple Avenue is by the railroad, around the former site of the depot; it includes brick buildings.The residential architecture of the district includes Victorian, Queen Anne, Second Empire, Georgian Revival, Bungalow/Craftsman, and Period Styles. One of the most elaborate Victorian ones is the Colonel Hamilton Yancey Residence in the Second Empire style.

Jackson Hill is located about 0.3 miles (0.48 km) south of the summit.Blossom Hill was named from the fact a local girl picked flowers there. In 1939, the Bruce Hamler Water Treatment Plant, named for a former city manager, was constructed on the hill in 1939.

The hill is considered to be one of the Seven Hills of Rome, Georgia.The summit was named for John Henry Lumpkin, who is also buried on the hill. In 1956, Lumpkin Hill's peak was leveled during the construction of Turner McCall Boulevard.
