Ralbitz-Rosenthal (German) or Ralbicy-Róžant (Upper Sorbian, pronounced [ˈʁalbʲitsɨ ˈʁʊʒant]) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen, in Saxony, Germany. Rosenthal is a well known pilgrimage site, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and administered by the Order of Cistercians. The municipality belongs to Upper Lusatia and is located in the central settlement area of the Sorbs. It consists of following villages (names given in German/Upper Sorbian, followed by the number of inhabitants): Cunnewitz/Konjecy, 268 inh. Gränze/Hrajnca, 54 inh. Laske/Łask, 85 inh. Naußlitz/Nowoslicy, 121 inh. Neu-Schmerlitz/Nowa Smjerdźaca, 1 inh. Ralbitz/Ralbicy, 333 inh. Rosenthal/Róžant, 265 inh. Schmerlitz/Smjerdźaca, 182 inh. Schönau/Šunow, 308 inh. Zerna/Sernjany, 191 inh.In 2001, 84.3 per cent of the population spoke Upper Sorbian.

Klosterwasser (Upper Sorbian: Klóšterska woda, pronounced [ˈklʊʃtɛʁska ˈwɔda]) is a river of Saxony, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Black Elster, which it joins near Wittichenau. The source of the Klosterwasser/Klóšterska woda is located in Burkau/Porchow, Germany, in the Lusatian Highlands (Lausitzer Bergland) near the Czech border.

The district of Bautzen (German: Landkreis Bautzen, Upper Sorbian: Wokrjes Budyšin) is a district in the state of Saxony in Germany. Its largest towns are Bautzen, Bischofswerda, Kamenz, Hoyerswerda and Radeberg. It is the biggest district in Saxony by area, and a member of the Neisse Euroregion. It is bordered to the south by the Czech Republic. Clockwise, it also borders the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, the district-free city of Dresden, the district of Meißen, the state of Brandenburg, and the Görlitz district.

The Satkula is a small stream of Saxony, Germany. The source of the Satkula is located in the village Kleinhänchen, municipality of Burkau/Porchow, Lusatia, Germany, in the Lusatian Highlands (Lausitzer Bergland). It is a right tributary of the Klosterwasser, which it joins near Räckelwitz. Satkula is a symbolic river for Sorbs in Lusatia.

Räckelwitz (German) or Worklecy (Sorbian, pronounced [ˈwɔʁklɛtsɨ]) is a municipality in Bautzen district, in the state of Saxony, Germany. The municipality of Räckelwitz has a population of 1,111 (2020) and is a member of the municipal association "Am Klosterwasser" (Zarjadniski zwjazk „Při Klóšterskej wodźe“). The municipality is in Upper Lusatia, and is part of the central area of Sorbian settlement. In 2001, 61.9% of people living in the municipality could speak Upper Sorbian.Räckelwitz is also the name of the largest village in the municipality. The village has a population of 506. Räckelwitz is the birthplace of the well-known Sorbian author Jurij Brězan. The former prime minister of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich was born in Neudörfel/Nowa Wjeska.

Wittichenau (German) or Kulow (Upper Sorbian, pronounced [ˈkulɔf]) is a bilingual town in the district of Bautzen in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Schwarze Elster, 6 km south of Hoyerswerda. This small municipality is situated in the heart of bilingual Lusatia region which was for long centuries part of the Bohemian Crown and was passed to Saxony in 1635. Wittichenau has 6,300 inhabitants of whom the Sorbian-speaking, Slavic Lusatian population compose about 35-40%; the other 60-65% speak German. It is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony.

Nebelschütz (German) or Njebjelčicy (Upper Sorbian) is a Sorbian village in the district of Bautzen of Saxony in eastern Germany. It lies to the south-east of Kamenz. The municipality is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony. Upper Sorbian has an official status next to German, all villages bear names in both languages. In 2004, two thirds of the population spoke Sorbian. The town is dominated by the Baroque church of St Martin, which stands on high ground. Whilst mildly impressive from the outside the church is more noted for its magnificent interior. The church has a curious combination of both pulpit and altar, reflecting the Catholic dominance within the Sorbian area.

Panschwitz-Kuckau (German) or Pančicy-Kukow (Upper Sorbian, pronounced [ˈpantʃitsɨ ˈkukɔf]) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen, in Saxony, Germany. It is the site of the well-known monastery Sankt Marienstern. The place is located at both sides of the Klosterwasser stream. The municipality is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony. Upper Sorbian has an official status next to German, all villages bear names in both languages. In 2001, half of the population spoke Sorbian.Due to the local Sorbian dominance the population is mainly Catholic.

Puschwitz (German) or Bóšicy (Upper Sorbian, pronounced [ˈbʊʃitsɨ]) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen, in Saxony, Germany. It belongs to Upper Lusatia and the settlement area of the Sorbs. The municipality consists of following villages (names given in German/Upper Sorbian): Guhra/Hora Jeßnitz/Jaseńca Lauske/Łusč Neu-Jeßnitz/Nowa Jaseńca Neu-Lauske/Nowy Łusč Neu-Puschwitz/Nowe Bóšicy Puschwitz/Bóšicy Wetro/Wětrow

The West Lusatian Hill Country and Uplands (German: Westlausitzer Hügel- und Bergland), sometimes just the West Lusatian Hills, is a natural region in Saxony. It is divided into the West Lusatian Foothills (Westlausitzer Vorberge) in the east and the Lusatian Plateau (Lausitzer Platte) in the west and forms the westernmost extremity of the Sudetes range.
