Lake Nottely (also called Nottely Reservoir) is one of many reservoirs of the Tennessee Valley Authority. It is located entirely in Union County, Georgia in the United States and within the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests. Formed in 1942 by the damming of the Nottely River, Nottely Reservoir extends 20 miles (30 km) upstream to the town of Blairsville. Construction of Nottely Dam began in 1941 and was completed in 1942. The dam is 184 feet (56 m) high and stretches 2,300 feet (701 m) across the Nottely River. Lake Nottely is approximately 20 miles (32 km) long and 102 feet (31 m) wide as well as an average depth of 10.6 metres (35 ft), a max depth of 98 feet (30 m) at the dam, and has a flood-storage capacity of 61,588 acre-feet (75,968,000 m3). Its primary purpose was for flood control in the Tennessee River watershed, but in the 1950s a single 15 megawatt generator was installed for power generation. Approximately 70% of the shoreline is under the jurisdiction of the United States Forest Service and undeveloped. In recent years, many new homes and properties have contributed to Lake Nottely's growing importance for recreation. Its proximity to Atlanta (2 hours) is resulting in increased use of this reservoir.

Nottely Dam is a hydroelectric and flood storage dam on the Nottely River in Union County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. The dam is owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which built the dam in the early 1940s as a flood control structure and to help regulate flow at nearby Hiwassee Dam. The dam impounds the Lake Nottely of 4,180 acres (16.9 km2). While the dam was built primarily for flood storage, a generator was installed at Nottely in the 1950s, giving it a small hydroelectric output.Nottely Dam was named for the Nottely River. The river itself was named after the Cherokee village of Naduhli (ᎾᏚᏟ), which was once situated along its banks. The village name is described variously as coming from the Cherokee for "daring horseman" or from the Muscogee language via Cherokee.

Youngcane Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia.The stream was named after Young Cane, the son of Long Cane, a Cherokee chieftain. Variant names are "Pine Log Creek" and "Young Cane Creek".

The John Franklin Cobb House, also known as the Cobb Plantation, is a historic house in rural Cherokee County, North Carolina. The oldest portion of the house is a log structure built in 1863, making it one of the few surviving pre-Civil War structures in the county. It is also notable as a place frequented by baseball legend Ty Cobb in his childhood; he was a grandson of the original builder, John Franklin Cobb. The house is, outside of the log cabin at its core, a rambling structure consisting of a variety of additions to the original log cabin. The house has been enclosed in weatherboarding since the 1880s. It was for many years the center of a farm of some 150-200 acres, and was in the Cobb family until 1977. The house, as well as outbuildings on a roughly six-acre parcel, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The house is located about two tenths of a mile down a private drive, west of US Route 129-19, about seven-tenths of a mile south of its junction with SR 1583.

The Raburn-Casteel House, about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Blairsville in Union County, Georgia is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its original section, the northern end, was built c.1885 by Hodge Raburn, as a one-and-a-half-story hall-parlor-type log house. It has a single pen addition attached to the rear of the original house, added between c.1885 and 1913. It was added to the National Register in 2001.
