Allen Combined Cycle Plant

The Allen Fossil Plant was a 741-megawatt (MW), coal power plant located south of Memphis, Tennessee. It generated electricity from 1959 to 2018. At the time of its closure, the plant was operated by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).

The C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa is located on and exhibits excavated materials of the Mississippian culture archaeological site known as Chucalissa (40 SY 1) which means "abandoned house" in Chickasaw. The site is located adjacent to the T. O. Fuller State Park within the city of Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Chucalissa was designated National Historic Landmark in 1994 due to its importance as one of the best-preserved and major prehistoric settlement sites in the region.

T.O. Fuller State Park is a state park in the city of Memphis, Tennessee, USA. It consists of 1,138 acres (461 ha) of mostly forest located in South Memphis on Mitchell Road. It is the only state park within the city limits and is suitable for wildlife. The park is named in honor of Dr. Thomas O. Fuller, who spent his life empowering and educating African Americans. The park facilities were originally built for the use of African Americans in the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). It was the first state park in the United States east of the Mississippi River that was open to African Americans.CCC camp number 1464-SP-10, which was composed of African Americans, initiated construction of the park facilities in 1938. During excavation for a proposed swimming pool in 1940, CCC workers unearthed evidence of a prehistoric village. The site has since been developed as Chucalissa Indian Village and includes a village, preserved archeological excavations and the C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa.

The International Port of Memphis is an active port in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. It is mainly located on President's Island, which is a peninsula. However, it also extends between miles 725 and 740 on both the Tennessee and Arkansas sides of the Mississippi River. It is the second largest inland port on the shallow draft portion of the Mississippi River, and the fifth largest inland port in the United States. It has the ability to connect to sea via the Mississippi River, by rail using any of the five Class 1 railroads in the city, by road via I-40 or I-55, and by air using FedEx.

Mitchell High School, also known as Mitchell Road High School, is a public 9-12 school in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, located at 658 West Mitchell Road in South Memphis. The school is served by the Memphis-Shelby County Schools district. As of 2022 the high school's student body was 97 percent black and 1.4 percent hispanic.

The First Battle of Memphis was a naval battle fought on the Mississippi River immediately north of the city of Memphis, Tennessee on June 6, 1862, during the American Civil War. The engagement was witnessed by many of the citizens of Memphis. It resulted in a crushing defeat for the Confederate forces, and marked the virtual eradication of a Confederate naval presence on the river. Despite the lopsided outcome, the Union Army failed to grasp its strategic significance. Its primary historical importance is that it was the last time civilians with no prior military experience were permitted to command ships in combat. As such, it is a milestone in the development of professionalism in the United States Navy.

The Riverside International Speedway is an automobile racing facility at 151 Legion Road in West Memphis, Arkansas. Its facilities consist of a 0.25-mile (0.40 km) Gumbo clay oval with banked corners, bleacher seating on both straightaways. Amenities include a concession stand. The track was built in 1950 and opened June 10 of that year at an estimated cost of $150,000 by C L Montgomery, originally to showcase midget car racing. It has held a World of Outlaws race. The track is nicknamed "The Ditch".

Lake View is a census-designated place and unincorporated community located in DeSoto County, Mississippi, United States, near the Mississippi/Tennessee border just south of Memphis and north of the village of Walls. Lake View is located on the former Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad.During Prohibition, multiple Memphis businessmen opened nightclubs in Lake View.A post office operated under the name Lake View from 1885 to 1895 and under the name Lakeview from 1895 to 1932.From 1910 to 1928, the Memphis Street Railway Co operated the Memphis and Lakeview Railway. This was a 10 mile track that had four streetcars assigned to it.The Valley Brick and Tile Company once operated a brick factory in Lake View.It was first named as a CDP in the 2020 Census which listed a population of 299.

The Dabbs Store is a historic retail building at 1320 South Avalon Street in West Memphis, Arkansas, United States. It is a brick two-story structure, located near the railroad tracks and the site of a now-demolished train depot in an isolated area of West Memphis. The building has two storefronts and a central entrance leading to the upper floor, which houses residential spaces. The storefronts are similarly styled but differ in size, that on the left is wider due to larger windows flanking its entrance. The windows of the storefronts are mounted on decorative wooden panels, and there are a series of large transom windows above the porch roof, matching the width of each storefront. Built in 1912, it is one of the oldest surviving commercial structures in the city.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Riverside, is a neighborhood in South Memphis. The neighborhood includes Kansas Street, Carver High (which is on Pennsylvania Street) and Martin Luther King Riverside Park.
