Sverresborg Church

Haltdalen Stave Church (Norwegian: Haltdalen stavkyrkje) is a stave church that was originally built in the 1170s in the village of Haltdalen in what is now the municipality of Holtålen in Trøndelag county, Norway. The church is now on display at the Sverresborg Trøndelag Folkemuseum in the city of Trondheim. This is a single-nave stave church of the east Scandinavian-style, and it is the only one that is preserved.

Sverresborg (Norwegian:Sverresborg i Trondheim) or Sverre Sigurdsson's castle (Kong Sverres borg) was a fort and residence built in the medieval city of Nidaros (later Trondheim) by King Sverre Sigurdsson. The fortification was built in support of Sverre Sigurdsson's struggle against his rival King Magnus Erlingsson to claim the throne of Norway. The site now forms part of the Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum, an open-air museum for the region of Trøndelag.

Trondheim Tramway Museum (Sporveismuseet i Trondheim) is a tram museum located in Trondheim, Norway. The museum offers in addition to a display of the tramway history of Trondheim also heritage trips with old trams on the sole remains of the tramway in Trondheim, Gråkallbanen. The museum has many heritage trams on display, several in working condition. The museum society was founded in 1979 and moved to its present location at the tramway depot at Munkvoll Station after the Trondheim Tramway was closed in 1988. The museum was opened in 1995, but is only open in the summer.

Dyrborg is a neighborhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is a residential area that is located in the borough of Midtbyen, just west of the neighborhood of Ila, north of Byåsen, and south-west of Trolla.

Munkvoll Station (Munkvoll stasjon) is a tram station on Gråkallbanen. It is part of the Trondheim Tramway in Trondheim, Norway. The station was built in 1924 as the terminus for the tramway. In addition to housing the Trondheim Tramway Museum, it features the offices and depot for the tram operator, Boreal Bane. The station also features one of the double track stretches on the line, where trams can pass.

Byåsen is a large neighborhood area in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It constitutes a large part of the city in the borough of Midtbyen. It encompasses a number of areas southwest of the main city centre. This includes all areas on the west side of the river Nidelva and north of Granåsen. This is mainly a residential area, with 32,136 residents as of January 1, 2003. Gråkallbanen tram line connects Byåsen to the city centre along with a number of bus routes (8, 5, and 19) as well as night time services by bus and tram in the weekends.The name Byåsen can be translated into "city hill", which describes its elevated position, overlooking the rest of Trondheim. The view of Trondheim can be seen from Utsikten (meaning "the view") around which the wealthier residents of Byåsen live. House prices in the area are considerably higher than other parts of the city. Byåsen is the only larger district in Trondheim that has a solid rock underground. As a consequence of its position above the rest of the city (from 100 to 300 metres (330 to 980 ft) above sea level) there is more snow on Byåsen during the winter than in lower parts of Trondheim. Bymarka, located on the southern and western part of Byåsen, is a large recreational area with forest and lakes, which is very popular for cross country skiing in the winter season. The weather conditions and the extensive network of cross country tracks in this area helped Granåsen, an outdoor winter sporting arena situated at the south end of Bymarka, in hosting the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997. Trondheim Golfklubb golf course is also based on Byåsen, although these same weather conditions complicate matters and shortens the season. There is also an 18-hole golf course located at Byneset in the western lowland area of Trondheim.At the end of the last ice age, between 10,000 and 11,500 years ago, the sea level was about 175 metres (574 ft) higher than it is today. The old sea level is still visible in the landscape forming a line along the hill which can be seen from the city. This line is called the Strandline (Strandlinje) and is most easily spotted from Kristiansten Fortress which is located to the east of the city centre. A path following Strandlinje is today popular with visitors to the city forest area of Bymarka which covers the most elevated parts of Byåsen.

Havstein Church (Norwegian: Havstein kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Trondheim municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Sverresborg area on the western side of the Nidelva river in the city of Trondheim. It is one of the churches for the Sverresborg parish which is part of the Heimdal og Byåsen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The gray, stone church was built in a long church style in 1857 and designed by the architects Heinrich Ernst Schirmer and Wilhelm von Hanno. The church seats about 200 people.

Ila, formerly Ilevolden, is a tram stop on the Trondheim Tramway, located at Ila, Trondheim in Trondheim, Norway. It was the original terminus of Ilalinjen, the first tramway and opened in 1901. In 1924 it also became a stop for the private Gråkallbanen that ran to Lian. The station featured at first a loop around the park it served, but it was later changed to a turning triangle. The station was the terminus for Line 1 of Trondheim Sporvei until 1971 when it was merged with A/S Graakalbanen and Line 1 was extended to Lian. The stop is also a stop for bus lines 5 and 8, as well as for buses heading to Trolla and Fosen. The stop primarily serves the residential areas at Ila.

Ila is a neighborhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Midtbyen, just west the central downtown area of Trondheim. Ila is bordered by the river Nidelva in the south, Skansen in the north, and Steinberget, Bymarka, and Ilsvikøra in the west. The area is mostly residential, with some industry and commerce. The Gråkallbanen tram line runs through Ila and the area is served by the Skansen Train Station on the Trønderbanen commuter train line. Nordre Avlastningsvei, which was completed during 2010, connects Ila via Brattøra to Lademoen.

Byåsen Upper Secondary School (Norwegian: Byåsen videregående skole) is a public upper secondary school located in the Byåsen area of Trondheim, Norway. The school was founded in 2004, and is built on a site that was previously home to military barracks and storage buildings. In addition to the school, the building also contains a public library and a gym.

The Trondheim Region (Norwegian: Trondheimsregionen) is a statistical metropolitan region in the county of Trøndelag in Norway. It is centered in the city of Trondheim. † Population data as of October 2012, from ssb;‡ Orkdal has been added to region due to new road completed The new limited-access road to Orkdal, a part of European route E39, was completed on 30 June 2005, shortening the driving time between Trondheim and Orkanger with some 15 minutes, adding Orkdal to the region. Although rarer, there is also some commuting from Rennebu, Levanger and Frosta.

The Trondheim Tramway in Trondheim, Norway, is the world's most northerly tramway system, following the closure and dismantling of the Arkhangelsk tramways in Russia. It consists of one 8.8-km-long line, the Gråkallen Line, running from St. Olav's Gate in the city centre through Byåsen to Lian Station in Bymarka.
