It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.It is a two-story three-bay frame and log house. It was deemed "One of the county's best examples of the mid 19th century I-houses related to agricultural development."

It has overhanging eaves supported by decorative brackets. It is the only brick Queen Anne style house remaining in Lancaster.It was built for Samuel Cabell Denny. Denny was cashier of the National Bank of Lancaster for 30 years, then president for 10 years. His wife survived him and lived in the house until 1966.

The Lancaster Commercial Historic District is a registered historic district located in Lancaster, Kentucky that was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1984.It includes the Garrard County Courthouse, built in 1868, which was the third-built courthouse of the area. The district was deemed notable as containing "Lancaster's best contiguous collection of buildings illustrating Lancaster's commercial and architectural development. In a six block area there are Federal log and brick structures, Gothic Revival church, Italianate cast iron store fronts, Queen Anne bay windows, and symmetrical Classical Revival detailing."

It is or was a two-story three-bay frame building on a limestone foundation, with a 27 by 18 feet (8.2 m × 5.5 m) log structure underneath its siding. In 1983, it was one of only seven log structures surviving in Lancaster, and it was vacant.The house seems no longer to exist.

It has a stone receiving vault (1897) which was used to store bodies when grave digging was not possible. It has an original iron fence and stone entrance pillars, while entrance gates were recent (as of 1984) copies of original gates.
