is a town in the district of Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

Frankenbach (German: [ˈfʁaŋkŋ̍bax] ) is a borough of Heilbronn since 1974. It is situated in the North-West, about 4.5 kilometres as crow flies from the centre. Frankenbach was first mentioned in 766 and belonged to Heilbronn from the early 15th century. The St. Albans church was mentioned first in 1472 and became a Protestant church along with the city of Heilbronn during the Protestant Reformation. The catholic St. Johannes church was built in 1972.

County of Neipperg was a county of southeastern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Barony of Neipperg-Schwaigern was created in 1520 as a baronial partition of the Barony of Neipperg, It was renamed from Neipperg-Schwaigern in 1726, and raised to a county in 1766. Neipperg was mediatised to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1806.

The Battle of Wimpfen took place during the Palatinate campaign period of the Thirty Years' War on 6 May 1622 near Wimpfen. The combined forces of the Catholic League and the Spanish Empire under Marshal Tilly and Gonzalo de Córdoba defeated the Protestant forces of Georg Friedrich, Margrave of Baden.

Lauffen am Neckar (German pronunciation: [ˌlaʊfn̩ ʔam ˈnɛkaʁ] ) or simply Lauffen is a town in the district of Heilbronn, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is on the river Neckar, 9 kilometres (6 miles) southwest of Heilbronn. The town is famous as the birthplace of the poet Friedrich Hölderlin and for its quality wines – in particular the "Lauffener Katzenbeißer Schwarzriesling".

Schozach is a river in Germany. It is a right tributary of the Neckar in the southern part of the Heilbronn district of Baden-Württemberg. It has its source near the village Vorhof near Untergruppenbach in the Löwenstein Hills and flows through Oberheinriet, Unterheinriet, Abstatt, Auenstein, Ilsfeld, Schozach and Talheim, and Heilbronn, before it flows into the Neckar near Sontheim, part of Heilbronn. The source is on 301m above sea level, the confluence at 154m above sea level.

The Zaber (German: [ˈtsaːbɐ]) is a minor tributary of the River Neckar in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is some 22 km in length and joins the Neckar from the west at Lauffen am Neckar. It has given its name to the Zabergäu, the area between the Heuchelberg and Stromberg hills.

The Lauffen bus crash of 20 June 1959 resulted in the deaths of 45 people. At the time it was the worst accident involving a bus since the end of the Second World War. A bus chartered by German Railways on a regular service collided with an express train on the Tübingen to Würzburg (via Stuttgart) route at level crossing number 47 at Lauffen am Neckar. In all, 45 people were killed and 27 others were seriously injured. The bus was operating a rail replacement service for the Zabergäu Railway along the stretch from Leonbronn to Lauffen. A timetable reduction had been introduced along this narrow gauge line in 1954. According to the accounts of former railway workers, the bus was running late, but the passengers were anxious to catch the connection from Lauffen to Würzburg. The level crossing keeper re-opened the barrier to allow the bus to cross but failed to first check with the train controller. The accident increased public pressure on the state of Baden-Württemberg and German railways to make the service along the Zabergäu Railway more attractive to passengers, and was one of the decisive factors in bringing about a re-gauging of this route from narrow to conventional gauge between 1964 and 1965. Horst Siebecke's Schallplatte des Jahres 1959 (LP of 1959) recalls the accident as being one of the most important events of the year. A memorial was later erected at the place where the accident occurred and a commemorative ceremony was held there on the 50th anniversary.

The Hölderlin-Gymnasium is a general educational Gymnasium in Lauffen am Neckar, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The school is named after the Romantic poet Friedrich Hölderlin, a native of Lauffen.
