Gampelen

Gampelen railway station (German: Bahnhof Gampelen) is a railway station in the municipality of Gampelen, in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Bern–Neuchâtel line of BLS AG.

The Jolimont is a hill that stretches Southwest to Northeast for about 4 km along the Thielle canal, between the Lake of Neuchâtel and the Lake of Bienne, in the Seeland, Switzerland. The Jolimont elevation starts in Gampelen till Erlach (fr. Cerlier), where its promontory into the Lake of Bienne builds both the Isthmus and the St. Petersinsel peninsula. North, nestled between it and the Thielle canal lies Gals and, at its southern side, Tschugg.

Thielle-Wavre is a former municipality in the district of Neuchâtel in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. On 1 January 2009, Marin-Epagnier and Thielle-Wavre merged to form the new municipality of La Tène.The hamlet of Montmirail lies within the territory of Thielle-Wavre.

Tschugg is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Zihlbrücke railway station (German: Bahnhof Zihlbrücke) is a railway station in the municipality of Gampelen, in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Bern–Neuchâtel line of BLS AG. The station takes its name from the river Thielle (German: Zihl) which the railway line crosses into the Canton of Neuchâtel immediately to the west.

La Tène is a protohistoric archaeological site on the northern shore of Lake Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Dating to the second part of the European Iron Age it is the type site of the La Tène culture, which dates to about 450 BCE to the 1st century BCE and extends from Ireland to Anatolia and from Portugal to Czechia. La Tène is listed as a property of national significance.

The Justizvollzugsanstalt Witzwil (Prison Witzwil) is a men's prison in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It consists of a closed part and a number of minimum security habitation units. The prisoners work on the institution's huge farm estate on the territories of the municipalities Erlach, Gampelen and Ins in Canton of Berne and Haut-Vully in Canton of Fribourg. Former prisoners who are yet to find employment are also allowed to work on these farms.The main seat and official address are located in the community of Gampelen.

Erlach Abbey or St. Johannsen Abbey (German: Kloster Erlach, otherwise Abtei St. Johannsen) was a Benedictine monastery in Gals, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. It was founded between 1093 and 1103 by Kuno, Count of Fenis and Bishop of Lausanne, on land that was then an island in the river Thielle. After Kuno's death, the abbey church was completed by his brother, Burchard, bishop of Basel. The new monastery was settled by monks from Saint Blaise Abbey. The Vogtei, initially the property of the Counts of Fenis, passed from them to the Counts of Neuchâtel-Nidau, and from them at the end of the 14th century to the city of Bern, which in took over the domain of Erlach in 1474, definitively acquiring it in 1476. The abbey was secularised between 1528 and 1529. The nave of the abbey church was demolished, but the choir and transept remained to be used for grain storage. These structures were demolished in 1961 after they had become unsafe, but the choir was rebuilt between 1970 and 1971. The other buildings remained standing, and in the 19th century were put to various industrial uses, until in 1883 the Canton of Bern bought the site back and turned it into a prison. Since 1978, it has served as an adjustment centre for young men.

La Tène (French: [la tɛn]; Arpitan: La Tena) is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. On 1 January 2009, the former municipalities of Marin-Epagnier and Thielle-Wavre merged to form the new municipality of La Tène.The La Tène toponym was originally applied to the lakeside area near Epagnier, notable as the eponymous site of the Iron Age archaeological of the La Tène culture.

Marin-Epagnier was a municipality in the district of Neuchâtel in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. On 1 January 2009, Marin-Epagnier and Thielle-Wavre merged to form the new municipality of La Tène.It is located at the northeastern tip of Lake Neuchâtel at an elevation of 455 meters, and, as of 2004, a population of 3,925 people. It lies close to Biel, at the boundary between French- and German-speaking regions, and at a knot of highways. Marin Epagnier has attracted numerous administrative offices and workshops of the micromechanics, electronics, and watchmaking industries, such as Métaux Précieux SA Métalor and TAG Heuer watches. The blazon of Marin-Epagnier's coat-of-arms is: "Sable, a Lion rampant or langued and armed Gules". The Iron Age archaeological site of La Tène is within Marin-Epagnier's communal boundaries; see La Tène culture for an account of the history of the site. La Tène was the name of the lakeside area south of Epagnier, at the eastern end of the Lake Neuchâtel. La Tène has a sandy beach, unique in Switzerland.
