Kennedy Creek Natural Area Preserve is a state-protected Natural Area near US Highway 101 on Oyster Bay, Puget Sound, in southwest Washington state, United States. The preserve is on the border of Thurston County and Mason County and contains 203 acres (82 ha) of intertidal salt marsh and upland forest.The Area is located approximately 100 yards from the junction of U.S. Highway 101 and Old Olympic Highway, about a 15-minute drive from Washington's capital city of Olympia. Parking areas are located on the side of Old Olympic Highway, and a short all-weather pedestrian trail leads to an improved wildlife viewing and interpretive area. The Preserve is visited by large numbers of migratory waterfowl, especially in winter months. Birding is best on a falling tide. Kennedy Creek, whose headwaters are 500-foot (150 m) Summit Lake in the Black Hills, is one of the largest Chum salmon spawning areas in the lower Puget Sound, and has a genetically distinct run of Chum salmon. A forest trail about 1 mile (1.6 km) up from Oyster Bay along Kennedy Creek was opened in 2000 for salmon viewing during spawning season.A $1 million expansion of the area has been proposed and is pending legislative action.

Oyster Bay is an inlet in southern Puget Sound which branches off from Totten Inlet. The bay spans Mason and Thurston counties, in the U.S. state of Washington. Kennedy Creek empties into the bay at the U.S. Highway 101 overpass. Oyster Bay was named for the oyster industry it supports. The bay is the site of one of only four oyster reserves in Puget Sound where the Olympia oyster grows. Oyster Bay is one of the most productive chum salmon runs in the state with over 40,000 spawners a year, estimated to be two-thirds of the run that would exist without human impacts.

The Chehalis Gap is a gap in the Coast Range of Washington state between the southernmost foothills of the Olympic Mountains called the Satsop Hills, and the Willapa Hills.The gap is a major geographic feature of the northwestern United States. Other geographic features in the gap include Chehalis River, Grays Harbor, and Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge in its estuary. U.S. Route 12 runs through the gap from Elma near Capitol State Forest to Aberdeen on Grays Harbor near the coast, paralleled by the former U.S. Route 410 and Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad.

Kamilche is an unincorporated community in Mason County, Washington, United States. Primarily a farm area, Kamilche is also the home to the Squaxin Indian Tribe. It is at the crossroads of U.S. Route 101 and State Route 108. Kamilche sits at the edge of Little Skookum Inlet, a finger waterway off Puget Sound.

Elevation is a cannabis shop on the Squaxin Island Tribe trust lands at Kamilche, Washington, across Washington State Route 108 from the tribe's Little Creek Casino. It became the first tribally operated cannabis shop in the United States in November 2015.

The Black Hills are a small range of hills in Thurston and Grays Harbor counties of Washington. They are widely considered a subset of the Willapa Hills, however, the line parent of the Black Hills is Rock Peak, in the Olympic Mountains. 2,664-foot (812 m) Capitol Peak is the highest peak in the range. The Black Hills takes its name from the Black River. A former variant name was "Black Mountains".The Capitol State Forest has roughly the same boundaries as the Black Hills. The high school A.G. West Black Hills, Tumwater, Washington, is named for the hills, as is the local soccer club the Blackhills Football Club. Capital Medical Center on the west side of Olympia was named Black Hills Community Hospital from its opening in 1985 until 1991.

Larch Mountain is a 2,664-foot (812 m) summit in the Black Hills range of Thurston County, Washington state. It is one of the two highest peaks in the Black Hills, along with Capitol Peak, and preceding 2,356-foot (718 m) Rock Candy Mountain. It is the most prominent peak in Thurston County.

Mud Bay Indian Shaker Church is the first church built by the Indian Shaker Church.The first Shaker Indian church, also called the "mother church", was built c. 1885 near Olympia, then the capital of Washington Territory. The structure was built on a shoulder of the Black Hills above Mud Bay, at the southern end of Eld Inlet, an arm of Puget Sound. It was near the homes of Louis "Mud Bay Louie" Yowaluch (aka Mud Bay Louis) and his brother Sam "Mud Bay Sam" Yowaluch, co-founders of the church, first and second "headman"s respectively. Mud Bay Sam was the first Bishop (church leader) after incorporation of Shaker Indian Church in 1910.The original church was oriented in an east-west direction, in a manner that would set the pattern for subsequent church architecture. The earliest several churches were about 18-by-24-foot (5.5 m × 7.3 m) plain wooden buildings with 10-foot (3.0 m) shingle roofs, stout wooden doors and floors. The Mud Bay church was rebuilt in 1910.

Noski Creek is a stream in Thurston County in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a tributary to Waddell Creek.A variant name is "Noschka Creek". The creek was named after a pioneer who settled near it in the 1880s.
