Lonsdale Power Station

Lonsdale railway station is located on the Seaford line. Situated in the southern Adelaide suburb of Lonsdale, it is 26.7 kilometres from Adelaide station.

Port Stanvac Power Station is a diesel-powered electricity generator in South Australia in Lonsdale, an industrial southern suburb of Adelaide. It is owned by Snowy Hydro since 2014. It consists of 36 diesel engines each generating 1.6MW for a total of 58MW of electricity to meet peak demands in the National Electricity Market.The power station was designed by Petro Min Engineers and built by Cummins Power Generation under contract from Infratil. The site had previously been used by the Lonsdale Power Station which was moved to a new site next door in 2011. Snowy Hydro bought assets from Infratil in 2014. These included Lumo Energy, Direct Connect and three diesel peaking generators for a total of 136 MW. The power stations were the Angaston Power Station along with Lonsdale and Port Stanvac.

Lonsdale is an industrial suburb south of Adelaide, South Australia, within the City of Onkaparinga. Lonsdale was farmed from shortly after European settlement until the 1950s, when the South Australian Housing Trust acquired much of the land for industrial use. Mobil's Port Stanvac Refinery and Chrysler's engine foundry were followed by many other manufacturing and service industries. Subsequent suburban development of surrounding areas has driven demand for a wide range of service-oriented businesses in the area. Port Stanvac Refinery and the Mitsubishi (formerly Chrysler) engine plant closed in 2004, with both sites remaining unused as of 2007. The South Australian Government announced plans to build a seawater desalination plant at the site in 2007, to provide fresh water for Adelaide. The Adelaide Desalination Plant opened in 2013.

The Adelaide Desalination plant (ADP), formerly known as the Port Stanvac Desalination Plant, is a sea water reverse osmosis desalination plant located in Lonsdale, South Australia which has the capacity to provide the city of Adelaide with up to 50% of its drinking water needs. In September 2007, South Australian Premier Mike Rann announced that the State Government would fund and build a desalination plant to ensure Adelaide's water supply against drought. The plant was financed and built by SA Water, a state-owned corporation. The plant was initially planned to have a capacity of 50 gigalitres (GL) of water per year but was later doubled in capacity to 100 GL/year with the assistance of funding from the Australian Government. The expanded capacity represents around 50% of Adelaide's domestic water supply. The project has engaged professional political lobbyists, including Michael O'Reilly.The plant was completed on time and within the original budget ($1.83 billion). Stage one of the plant commenced operations in October 2011, and stage two commenced in July 2012. The plant was officially opened on 26 March 2013.The Adelaide Desalination Project is the largest infrastructure project that the State of South Australia has funded, owns, and has completed successfully.Since 2012, the plant has been operating at 10% of its capacity to keep it functioning. In 2017, it produced 2% of the state's water supply.

Reynell is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It is named after John Reynell, a founder of the Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia and noted 19th-century wheat farmer, sheep and cattle breeder, vigneron and winemaker in the area. Reynell is a 33.1 km² urban residential and industrial electorate in Adelaide's far south. It includes the suburbs of Christies Beach, Christie Downs, Hackham West, Lonsdale, Noarlunga Centre, O'Sullivan Beach, Port Noarlunga and Reynella, as well as part of Morphett Vale. Reynell was created for the 1993 state election as a fairly safe Labor seat, but was won by Julie Greig for the Liberals as part of a statewide landslide. It was reclaimed for Labor at the 1997 election by Gay Thompson. Labor's Katrine Hildyard succeeded her at the 2014 election.

O'Sullivan Beach is a seaside suburb in the southern Adelaide metropolitan area, within the City of Onkaparinga. O'Sullivan Beach has a unique postcode of 5166.

Port Stanvac Refinery was an oil refinery in the Australian state of South Australia located in Lonsdale, a southern suburb of Adelaide. Its construction was announced in 1958 and began refining crude oil in 1963.It had a capacity of 3.3 million tons per annum and was owned by Exxon Mobil. The refinery was mothballed in 2003, and in 2009 Exxon Mobil announced its permanent closure and demolition.The 239 hectares (590 acres) site is being demolished and cleaned up through 2019.The refinery's most prominent structure, the 90 metres (300 ft) chimney, was demolished on 31 January 2014. Mobil will face penalties if the site is not remediated by 2019. The land will be sold in phases.Part of the site is now used for the Adelaide Desalination Plant. Four gas turbines were installed by the Government of South Australia in 2017 for the Temporary Generation South power station. Operation was transferred to Infigen Energy in May 2020 under a 25 year lease, and will be moved to a different site at Bolivar.

Christie Downs railway station is located on the Seaford line. Situated in the southern Adelaide suburb of Christie Downs, it is 28.9 kilometres from Adelaide station.

Christie Downs is a suburb in southern Metropolitan Adelaide within the city of Onkaparinga, South Australia. It has a unique postcode of 5164, and is adjacent to the suburbs of Christies Beach to the west, Noarlunga Centre to the south, Morphett Vale to the east and Lonsdale to the north. The area was named after Lambert Christie, who was one of the original European settlers in the area. The area continued to be mainly farming land until the late 1950s when large portions were purchased by the South Australian Housing Trust. Since then the suburb has steadily grown to have almost 2500 households. The suburb is served by Christie Downs railway station on the Seaford railway line.
