Gräfenthal (German pronunciation: [ˈɡʁɛːfn̩ˌtaːl] ) is a town in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia, Germany.

Reichmannsdorf is a village and a former municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 January 2019, it is part of the town Saalfeld. Before, it belonged to the municipal association Lichtetal am Rennsteig, which consisted of the municipalities Lichte, Piesau, Reichmannsdorf, and Schmiedefeld.

Piesau is a village and a former municipality in the district of Sonneberg in Thuringia, Germany, close to the Thuringian Rennsteig. Formerly in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, it is part of the town Neuhaus am Rennweg since January 2019. It has a glass factory and is known as glass-maker village. The first time glass was made in Piesau was in 1622. Up until today glass is the main reason of existence in Piesau. Carl Heinz Glass still produces glass, for instance for the cosmetics industry. The inventor of the first usable röntgenglass (Carl Heinrich Florenz Müller) descends from the village. Piesau lies next to the "Rennsteig", a hiking path of more than 160 kilometres throughout Thüringen. Before 2019, it was part of the municipal association Lichtetal am Rennsteig, which consists of the municipalities Lichte, Piesau, Reichmannsdorf, and Schmiedefeld.

Morassina is an inactive mine in Schmiedefeld (Lichtetal), Thuringia, Germany. Today it is a tourist attraction known for its stalactites.

The Rauhhügel is an 812.9 m high (above sea level) mountain located in the Thuringian Highland, Thuringia, Germany. It is located close to the municipalities of Schmiedefeld and Lichte and the Leibis-Lichte Dam in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park within walking distance of the Rennsteig. The Leipzig tower on top of the Rauhhügel is 17.5 m high. It has viewing platforms on two levels, the upper at 14 m, from which in good weather one can see far into the surrounding mountains of the Thuringian Highland, the Thuringian Forest and to mountains of the Fichtel Mountains and Ore Mountains, including: Neuhaus am Rennweg (830 m) Ochsenkopf (1,024 m), Fichtel Mountains Schneekopf (1,051 m), Fichtel Mountains Fichtelberg (1,214 m), Ore MountainsThere is a guesthouse at the base of the tower.

Probstzella station is the station of the Thuringian town of Probstzella in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt. It is located at the southeastern edge of Probstzella and since 1 October 1885 it has been a through station on the Franconian Forest Railway. The station is 1.3 km from the Bavarian-Thuringian border and after the Second World War until German reunification in 1990, it served as the point of entry for traffic passing from West Germany to East Germany and is considered the last remaining border station on the Inner German border.

The Aßberg is a 703-m high mountain located in the Thuringian Highland region of Thuringia, Germany. It is located close to the municipalities of Deesbach, Meura, Reichmannsdorf, and Schmiedefeld and the Leibis-Lichte Dam in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park.

The Lichte (Thuringia) east station (German: Bahnhof Lichte (Thüringen) Ost) was a Deutsche Reichsbahn station of the Thuringian municipality of Lichte (Wallendorf) in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt. This now-defunct station is located on an altitude of 618.54 m above NN. There are two platforms, three transit tracks, one street connection, one cargo street, one deposit track, and one track to the goods shed. Lichte (Thuringia) east station was also an express train station (German: Eilzugstation) on the railway line from Sonneberg to Probstzella.
