Piesau

The Lichte (Thuringia) east station (German: Bahnhof Lichte (Thüringen) Ost) was a Deutsche Reichsbahn station of the Thuringian municipality of Lichte (Wallendorf) in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt. This now-defunct station is located on an altitude of 618.54 m above NN. There are two platforms, three transit tracks, one street connection, one cargo street, one deposit track, and one track to the goods shed. Lichte (Thuringia) east station was also an express train station (German: Eilzugstation) on the railway line from Sonneberg to Probstzella.

Schmiedefeld is a village and (with the municipal section Taubenbach) a former municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany close to the Thuringian Rennsteig. Since 1 January 2019, it is part of the town Saalfeld. Before, it belonged to the municipal association Lichtetal am Rennsteig, which consisted of the municipalities Lichte, Piesau, Reichmannsdorf, and Schmiedefeld.

It has viewing platforms on two levels, the upper at 14 m, from which in good weather one can see far into the surrounding mountains of the Thuringian Highland, the Thuringian Forest and to mountains of the Fichtel Mountains and Ore Mountains, including: Neuhaus am Rennweg (830 m) Ochsenkopf (1,024 m), Fichtel Mountains Schneekopf (1,051 m), Fichtel Mountains Fichtelberg (1,214 m), Ore MountainsThere is a guesthouse at the base of the tower.

It is to be found close to the municipality of Lichte, and the Leibis-Lichte Dam in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park. The section of the Rennsteig walkway between Neuhaus am Rennweg, Piesau, and Spechtsbrunn runs close to the mountain.
