The John A. Alario Sr. Event Center, commonly shortened as the Alario Center, is a 2,400-seat multi-purpose arena in Westwego, Louisiana, USA. The facility was approved for construction in 1993, and opened in 1999. The arena was most notably used as the practice facility for the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans (formerly Hornets) from 2002 to 2013. The Alario Center features six hardwood courts under one roof. The Alario Center also hosts many annual sports events including AAU Boys Basketball tournaments, boxing matches, cheerleading/dance competitions, wrestling, professional wrestling, gymnastics meets and volleyball tournaments. There are also many non-sports events that are annually held at the Alario Center including the FIRST Robotics Competition Bayou Regional, the Governor's West Bank Luncheon, concerts, college graduation ceremonies and numerous sales & expos.On April 4, 2014, the venue hosted Supercard of Honor VIII, a professional wrestling event promoted by national wrestling promotion Ring of Honor (ROH). On February 19, 2022, it hosted No Surrender, promoted by Impact Wrestling.Because of the center's size and location in Jefferson Parish, many parish schools hold events there, including graduations. One such school is Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy. The Bayou Segnette Sports complex, which the Alario Center is part of also includes Segnette Field, a baseball stadium that is the home of the Loyola University New Orleans' Wolfpack baseball program. The Alario Center is named for the father of John A. Alario Jr., the dean of the Louisiana State Legislature.

Bayou Segnette State Park is located in Westwego, Jefferson Parish, southwest of New Orleans, Louisiana, on the west bank of the Mississippi River. Bayou Segnette is not far from the urban center of New Orleans, yet it features access to two types of wetlands, swamp and marsh. Saltwater intrusion coming into the canals from the Gulf of Mexico created the marsh. This is a remarkable habitat for plant and wildlife. This habitat is home to American alligators, coypu, nine-banded armadillos, Virginia opossum, raccoons, American mink, red-tailed hawks, kites, red-winged blackbirds, bald eagles, and northern cardinals.

Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy is a comprehensive college preparatory magnet school. In August 2004, the school opened with 7th and 8th grades and has grown to include 6th through 12th grades in recent years. PFTSTA is located in Avondale, Louisiana. Named after Patrick F. Taylor, this Sci-tech school currently has grades 6-12. The students are on a block schedule, four separate 90 minute (an hour and a half) courses a day that changes the following semester. The school campus is now located in a new facility on the Westbank in Avondale by the Alario Center, and each student is issued a school laptop on which to do classwork, projects, and homework. The school's current principal is Sharmeika Daniels.

Bridge City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. It was established in the 1930s during the construction of the Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi River. The town is located on the south side (referred to as the "West Bank") of the river. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area. The Bridge City CDP population was 7,706 at the 2010 census. At the 2019 American Community Survey, its population declined to 6,602 residents. The population of Bridge City rebounded to 7,219 in 2020.

Westwego is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana, located in Jefferson Parish. It is a suburban community of New Orleans in the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area and lies along the west bank of the Mississippi River. The population of the city of Westwego was 8,568 at the 2020 United States census.

The L.J. Bernard Hardware Store is a historic building in Westwego, Louisiana. It was built in 1907, and remodelled as a hardware store by L. J. Bernard a decade later. It remained in the Bernard family until 1997, and it became a museum in 1999. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since September 22, 2000.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a professional golf tournament in Louisiana on the PGA Tour, currently held at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, a suburb southwest of New Orleans. Beginning 86 years ago in 1938 and held annually since 1958, it is commonly played in early to mid-spring. Zurich Insurance Group is the main sponsor, and it is organized by the Fore!Kids Foundation.First prize reached five figures in 1965, six figures in 1988, and passed the million-dollar mark in 2006. The winning team in 2022 split over $2.39 million. In 2017, the Zurich Classic became a team event, with eighty pairs. One member of each team is initially chosen via the Tour priority rankings, and his partner must either be a PGA Tour member or earn entry through a sponsor exemption. The stroke play format was alternate shot (foursome) in the first and third rounds and better ball (fourball) for the second and fourth rounds. The cut line is 33 teams, plus ties. The winners earn 400 FedEx Cup points and two-year exemptions, but will not receive Masters invitations and no world ranking points are awarded for the event.In 2018, the format switched to fourball for the first and third rounds and alternate shot for the second and fourth rounds.

TPC Louisiana is an 18-hole golf course in the southern United States, located in Avondale, Louisiana, a suburb southwest of New Orleans. Opened twenty years ago in 2004, it was designed by renowned golf course architect Pete Dye in consultation with tour professionals Steve Elkington and Kelly Gibson. TPC Louisiana has been part of the PGA Tour's Tournament Players Club network since its second season, and hosts the tour's Zurich Classic of New Orleans in the spring.

Avondale Shipyard was an independent shipbuilding company, acquired by Litton Industries, in turn acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation. In 2011, along with the former Ingalls Shipbuilding, the yard was part of Huntington Ingalls Industries. It closed in October 2014. The yard was located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in an area called Bridge City, about 20 miles (32 km) upriver from New Orleans near Westwego, Louisiana. It was the site of the modernization of the battleship USS Iowa in the early 1980s and also constructed some of the lighter aboard ships (LASH). At one time, it was the largest employer in Louisiana, with about 26,000 employees.

Audubon Zoo is an American zoo located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is part of the Audubon Nature Institute which also manages Audubon Aquarium, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, Freeport-McMoran Species Survival Center, Audubon Park, and Audubon Coastal Wildlife Network. It covers 58 acres (23 ha) and is home to over 2,000 animals. It is located in a section of Audubon Park in Uptown New Orleans, on the Mississippi River side of Magazine Street. The zoo and park are named in honor of artist and naturalist John James Audubon who lived in New Orleans starting in 1821.

NOLA Motorsports Park is a full service motorsports facility in Avondale, Louisiana approximately twenty minutes from downtown New Orleans. NOLA Motorsports Park includes an FIA Grade 2 road course, one of the largest (fully-lit) outdoor karting tracks in the country, and a 300,000 square ft. soft-grade asphalt skid pad, perfect for drifting and autocross. The kart circuit and North Track opened in Q4 2011. Future plans include completion of an off-roading area, a supercar driving experience, and more.

The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana was an IndyCar Series race held at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana in 2015.The only race held in 2015 was plagued by heavy rain, which turned much of the facility in a quagmire. Qualifying was cancelled, and the race was shortened with most of the laps run under caution. After the race, legal disputes erupted involving the promoter, the track, and other related parties. The event was a huge money-loser, and attracted only 10,000 spectators, in part due to the poor weather. Despite an initial three-year contract, the event was cancelled after only one running. This was the first major auto race held in the New Orleans area since the Grand Prix du Mardi Gras took place on the streets around the Louisiana Superdome as part of the 1995 IMSA GT Championship. James Hinchcliffe was declared the winner of the 2015 race, just weeks before he suffered near-life-threatening injuries at Indianapolis.
