University Park, Irvine, California

Irvine () is a master-planned city in Orange County, California, United States in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Irvine Company started developing the area in the 1960s and the city was formally incorporated on December 28, 1971. The 66-square-mile (170 km2) city had a population of 307,670 as of the 2020 census. A number of corporations, particularly in the technology and semiconductor sectors, have their national or international headquarters in Irvine. Irvine is also home to several higher education institutions including the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Concordia University, Irvine Valley College, the Orange County Center of the University of Southern California (USC), and campuses of California State University Fullerton (CSUF), University of La Verne, and Pepperdine University.

Concordia University Irvine is a private Lutheran university in Irvine, California, United States. It was established in 1976 to provide a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod college to serve the Pacific Southwest and provide training for pastors, religious education teachers, and Christian school administrators. Concordia University Irvine has a total undergraduate enrollment of 1,592 and its campus size is 70 acres (28 ha). It is one of nine colleges and universities in the Concordia University System.

University High School (also known as UHS or "Uni") is one of six public high schools serving grades 9-12 in the city of Irvine, California, United States. It was established in 1970 and is situated on 55 acres (22 ha) of land in the southwestern portion of the city, adjacent to the University of California, Irvine (UCI). The school comprises six main academic buildings, a performing arts theater, a band room for instrumental music, a swimming pool, eight tennis courts, an indoor gymnasium supplemented with other indoor athletic facilities, a stadium, and several practice fields. Housed within the facilities are the departments of English, world languages, math, science, social science, instrumental music, art, industrial technology, athletics, physical education, English proficiency programs, special education, and the Orange County Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program. The school colors are navy blue, Columbia blue, and white. The school mascot is the Trojan. University High School was named the best public high school in California and 8th best public high school in America in 2011 by Newsweek. University was also the highest ranked institution on the list that was not a charter or magnet school.

Tanaka Farms is a family-owned and operated farm and produce market in Irvine, California. Its focus is not wholesale goods production but agritourism, mainly focused towards school-age children on field trips. It grows over sixty varieties of fruits and vegetables and does not use GMO seeds or unapproved pesticides. The organization also operates a sunflower field in Costa Mesa. Agritourism makes up about a third of the farm's income, with their produce stand and CSA program making up the rest.

William R. Mason Regional Park, or as it is more commonly referred to, Mason Park, is a park in southern Irvine, California. It is one of the largest parks in Irvine and is traversed by trails.

Shepherd's Grove is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Irvine, California, United States. The church was founded by Robert H. Schuller in 1955 as the Garden Grove Community Church and renamed to Crystal Cathedral Ministries after its church building, the Crystal Cathedral, in 1981. The congregation is known worldwide as the producer of the Hour of Power weekly Christian television program. On October 18, 2010, the board of Crystal Cathedral Ministries filed for bankruptcy in Santa Ana, California. In February 2012, as part of the bankruptcy proceeding, the congregation sold the Crystal Cathedral building to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. Under the terms of the sale, Crystal Cathedral Ministries leased the building from the diocese until July 2013. The congregation was housed on the former site of St. Callistus Catholic church and school in Garden Grove until March 2018.The Presbytery of Los Ranchos approved a proposed lease agreement between Shepherd's Grove and Irvine Presbyterian Church (IPC) on February 24, 2018. The first services at IPC were held on March 25, 2018. Shepherd's Grove intends to merge with IPC into the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Hour of Power is a weekly American Evangelist television program broadcast from Shepherd's Grove Presbyterian Church in Irvine, California, near Los Angeles. It is one of the most watched religious broadcasts in the world, seen by approximately two million viewers. It was formerly broadcast from the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. The program was founded and first hosted by Robert H. Schuller. It is currently hosted by Bobby Schuller, who is Robert H. Schuller's grandson. The program is normally one hour long, but some networks broadcast an edited 30-minute program.

Woodbridge High School (WHS) is a public high school located in Irvine, California, United States, serving grades 9–12. Woodbridge is in the Irvine Unified School District. Founded in 1980, it has an approximate enrollment of 2,400 students. Greg Cops was the founding principal and retired in 2002. The current administrative staff as of 2020 includes principal Christopher Krebs and assistant principals Carlene McCurry, Angela Pimentel, and Linzi Gorzycki. Woodbridge has had many improvements and renovations. A recent example is the new Aquatic Center which contains a 50 meter by 25 yard swimming pool, portable bleachers, restroom facilities and locker rooms. A new theater and a new synthetic track and turf field has also been constructed as of May 2021. Of note, the 1989 movie Gleaming the Cube starring Christian Slater was filmed partially at Woodbridge High School.

Woodbridge is a large suburban housing development, begun in 1975 by The Irvine Company, in the central region of Irvine, California. It covers 2.65 square miles and has two large artificial lakes at its center. It contains four elementary schools, two middle schools (Lakeside and South Lake), and Woodbridge High School. The Interstate 405 forms its southern boundary. Most of the developments were completed by the mid-1990s. In 2013 development began on the first new housing tract in 15 years, consisting of 48 new homes called The Branches.Woodbridge is located from Irvine Center Drive to the Interstate 405, between Culver Drive and Jeffrey Road.

The Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) is an 89,000-square-foot (8,300 m2) indoor gym facility that is part of campus recreation at the University of California, Irvine (UCI); the anteater is the mascot of the UC Irvine athletics team (see University of California, Irvine#Athletics for the mascot's origin and history). It is open to all UCI students, faculty and staff members, alumni, and other university affiliates, including spouses.The facility was designed by Langdon Wilson Architecture. It opened in January 2000, replacing older, cramped recreational facilities at the school's older gym, Crawford Hall. Built at a cost of $26 million, it was funded by a student referendum approved in May 1996, when UCI students voted to pay an additional $88 per quarter to fund the center and other athletic and recreational facilities. The positive reception for the new center led students at other University of California campuses (such as UCLA) to push for similar improvements in their recreational facilities.The facility has been the setting for several Guinness world record events, including a 4,448-participant dodgeball game in 2011 and a 3,875-combatant water pistol fight in 2013.

Turtle Rock is a neighborhood in the south part of Irvine, Orange County, California, near Concordia University, Irvine and the University of California, Irvine. It is bounded to the north by University Drive and Mason Regional Park, to the east by the Strawberry Farms Golf Club and Ridgeline Drive, to the south by Shady Canyon Drive, and to the west by Culver Drive. Turtle Rock is one of the five "villages" originally forming Irvine; its 1967 founding is commemorated by a sculpture of a turtle in Turtle Rock Community Park, at the corner of Turtle Rock and Sunnyhill Drives. A two-lane internal loop road, Turtle Rock Drive, encircles the village and carries traffic between housing developments and the city's main streets. Geographically, Turtle Rock lies in the San Joaquin Hills. The tallest point is a hill called "Sunset Point". Originally a nameless point, it was referenced as a part of Chaparral Park. It is often referred to as "Suicide Hill" online, due to the usage of the hill's steepest slope to perform the "Suicide" exercise routine. In 2021, the City Of Irvine conducted surveys and consulted with indigenous leaders, before officially naming the hill "Sunset Point". The highest point of Sunset Point is 161m tall. A lower peak to the north, also within the neighborhood, is called French Hill, with a peak of 128 meters. While it is not entirely clear where the name "Turtle Rock" comes from, there is a rocky outcropping on Rockview Drive at the northern end of the neighborhood (33°39′15″N 117°49′01″W) that is now maintained as part of an association park. This rock has the shape of the front of a turtle's carapace, and is sacred to the Gabrieleño Native Americans. It is often locally considered to be the origin of the name "Turtle Rock". Schools within Turtle Rock include Turtle Rock Preschool, Turtle Rock Elementary School, Bonita Canyon Elementary School, University High School, and Concordia University. Planning and housing issues within Turtle Rock have been discussed regularly in Southern California newspapers. Henry Irving uses Turtle Rock as one of several test cases for analysis of urban communication.

Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) is a California Special District formed in 1961 and incorporated under the California water code. IRWD headquarters are located in Irvine, California. IRWD offers the following services: potable water sales, sewer service and sale of reclaimed (or recycled) water and serves the city of Irvine and portions of Costa Mesa, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Orange, Tustin and unincorporated areas of Orange County. IRWD has more than 101,000 connections with more than 300,000 customers spanning over 180 square miles (470 km2) of service area in Orange County.
