Knighton Spinney

Knighton is a residential suburban area of Leicester, in the Leicester district, in the ceremonial county of Leicestershire, England. It situated between Clarendon Park to the north, Stoneygate to the east, Oadby and Wigston to the south and the Saffron Lane estate to the west. Originally a separate village a couple of miles from Leicester city centre, it became linked to it by the areas known as Stoneygate and Clarendon Park during the Victorian period, due to the demand for housing for those newly employed in industry. It still retains several of the village's original buildings, such as Oram Cottage and the Church of St. Mary Magdalen; the village core is now a conservation area.

Leicester High School for Girls also known as 'LHS' is an independent day school for girls aged 3–18 situated in South Knighton, Leicester. It was originally a coeducational school but is now an all-girls school.

Leicester Racecourse is a horse racing course in Oadby, Leicestershire, about three miles south of the city centre.

Wigston Fields is a district of the borough of Oadby and Wigston in Leicestershire, England. It lies between Leicester and the town of Wigston on the A5199 road. The population is included in the Wigston St. Wolstan's ward of the borough council.

Stoneygate is part of the City of Leicester, England. Situated on the south-east side of the city some two miles from the centre, Stoneygate is a mainly residential suburb characterised by its large Victorian houses. It straddles the London Road which connects Leicester with the town of Market Harborough and was formerly the main route for horse-drawn carriages between Leicester and London. It gives its name to Stoneygate ward, which also includes parts of Evington Valley and Highfields, whilst the south-eastern parts of Stoneygate are counted in the Knighton ward of Leicester City Council.

Clarendon Park is an area in the south of the city of Leicester. It is bordered by Welford Road to the west, London Road to the east, Victoria Park to the north and Avenue Road/Avenue Road Extension to the south. It is part of Castle Ward and the constituency of Leicester South. There are two major shopping streets; Queens Road and Clarendon Park Road. These two roads intersect near the centre of Clarendon Park, with Queens Road running north–south, and Clarendon Park Road running east–west.

The Clarendon Park Congregational Church is a Congregational church in Leicester, Leicestershire, UK. It is located on London Road in the Stoneygate district near Clarendon Park.Among the many places of worship in Leicester are Congregational churches. The first Congregational church in Leicester was founded in 1801. Numerous others were built in the 19th century. The Clarendon Park Congregational Church was designed by James Tait (1834-1915) and built in 1886. It is built of granite rubble with ashlar dressings and a roof of red tiles. It was designated a Grade II listed building (13613930) in 1975.The church is part of the Congregational Federation.

Oadby and Wigston is a local government district with borough status in Leicestershire, England. It covers the two towns of Oadby, where the council is based, and Wigston, which is the larger town. Both form part of the Leicester urban area, lying south-east of the city. The neighbouring districts are Leicester, Harborough and Blaby.

The Baitul Ikram (English: A Noble Place) is a mosque located in Leicester, UK. It is the first purpose-built Ahmadi mosque in East Midlands and was inaugurated on 20 February 2016. It has a capacity for 300 worshippers.

The University of Leicester Harold Martin Botanic Garden is a botanic garden close to the halls of residence for the University of Leicester in Oadby, Leicestershire, England. Founded in 1921, the garden was established on the present 16-acre (65,000 m2) site in 1947. The garden is used for research and teaching purposes by the university's Genetics (formerly Biology) Department and features events such as sculpture and art exhibitions, music performances and plant sales. It is open to the public. The gardens surround several Edwardian era houses which are now part of Leicester University's halls of residence, including Beaumont House, The Knoll, and Southmeade. The Attenborough Arboretum is a 5-acre (20,000 m2) satellite in the old village of Knighton (absorbed by Leicester city). It is named after Frederick Attenborough and was opened on 23 April 1997 by his son, Sir David Attenborough. It is managed as a wild site with native trees, ponds and a ridge and furrow field.
