Wat Tyler Country Park

Pitsea Marsh is a 94.6-hectare (234-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest in Pitsea in Essex. The southern half is the Wat Tyler Country Park, and the northern half is private land.The site has a variety of habitats, such as grassland, scrub, reedbed, fen, ponds and saltmarsh. It was reclaimed in the seventeenth century, when Pitseahall Fleet was excavated to construct sea walls. The Fleet has a large and varied bird population. Dykes and ponds support the scarce emerald damselfly, and other rare invertebrates include Roesel's bush-cricket, a harvestman Leiobunum rotundum, a hoverfly xanthandrus comtus, and a ground beetle dyschirius impunctipennis.There is access to the country park from Pitsea Hall Lane.

Pitsea waste management site is a large landfill site on the north side of the Thames estuary 0.7 miles (1.1 km) from Pitsea in Basildon, Essex. It is the second largest landfill site in the UK operated by Veolia Ltd. receiving 800,000 tonnes of solid waste per year, mostly from the London conurbation. The decomposition of organic matter within the landfill generates a gas rich which is rich in methane. This landfill gas is collected by a network of pipes and since 2001 has been used to power generators producing 16.2 MW of electricity. The electricity is sent into the National Grid; this amounts to about 94.4 GWh per year sufficient to power 14,300 homes.After the site closes in the early 2020s, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds plans to convert it to a nature reserve.

Pitsea railway station is on the London, Tilbury and Southend line, serving the small town of Pitsea in the borough of Basildon, Essex. It is situated at a junction where a loop via Grays re-joins the main line via Basildon. Down the main line it is 26 miles 42 chains (42.7 km) from London Fenchurch Street; via the loop it is 32 miles 37 chains (52.2 km) from Fenchurch Street. Its three-letter station code is PSE. It was originally opened in 1855 by the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway but was replaced by a new station on an adjacent site in 1888 when the line from Barking to Upminster fully opened. The station was renamed Pitsea for Vange in 1932, but reverted to the original name Pitsea in 1952.The station and all trains serving it are currently operated by c2c.

Fobbing Marsh is a 75.7-hectare (187-acre) nature reserve east of Fobbing in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.The site is mainly grazing marshes, but there are also areas of rough grassland, saltmarsh, seawalls and reedbed. Flowering plants include hairy buttercup, knotted hedge-parsley and the nationally rare least lettuce. There are breeding birds such as Corn buntings and yellow wagtails.There is access by a footpath from Marsh Lane.

Bowers Gifford is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bowers Gifford and North Benfleet, in the Basildon district, in Essex, England. It is east of Pitsea and west of South Benfleet. It adjoins the small village of North Benfleet.

Chalvedon School and 6th Form College was a Specialist Technology College in Pitsea, Essex, England. It was a comprehensive school educating pupils aged between 11 and 18 years of age. Chalvedon had over 1800 pupils on roll including 196 sixth formers. The school was first opened in 1966 and operated on the same site until its formal closure. Mr A S Roach became the Principal of the school in 1988. In January 2006 Chalvedon School federated with another local comprehensive school, Barstable School, to form The Federation of Chalvedon School and Sixth Form College and Barstable School. In 2009 the school formally closed with pupils transferring to the newly created Basildon Academies, who use the former site for the Upper Academy.

Pitsea is a small town and former civil parish, now in the unparished area of Basildon, in south Essex, England. It comprises five sub-districts: Eversley, Northlands Park Neighbourhood (previously known as Felmores), Chalvedon, Pitsea Mount and Burnt Mills. It is part of the new town of Basildon. In 1931 the parish had a population of 3414.During the creation of the new town of Basildon in the late 1940s and early 1950s, "Pitsea", "Vange" and "Laindon" were considered as possible names for the new town. As Basildon village was central to the district, the town was eventually named "Basildon". Before the new town regeneration, Pitsea itself was made up of unbuilt plot lands and was regarded as underdeveloped and run down. Vange and Fobbing Marshes are a 164.6-hectare (407-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in two areas south of Basildon in Essex. Vange Marsh is managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.The marshes are unimproved coastal grassland, dykes and creeks, with a wide variety of maritime herbs and grasses, some of them nationally rare. The site is the main British location for least lettuce. Insects with restricted distributions include the scarce emerald damselfly and Roesel's bush cricket. There are birds at Vange Marsh such as avocets, common terns and black-tailed godwits.There is access to Fobbing Marsh by footpaths from Corringham, and Vange Marsh is 600 metres from Pitsea railway station.
