Prairie Park (East Chicago)

Sunnyside is a neighborhood in easternmost East Chicago, Indiana, in the Indiana Harbor section near Cline Avenue. It is unique among East Chicago neighborhoods for its suburban character, including a curvilinear street grid. The population is 55% African American and 42% Hispanic. The neighborhood has one of the highest rates of owner-occupied homes in the city.The neighborhood was built over the first half of the 20th century by Inland Steel as employee housing. The first 100 houses, brick duplexes housing 200 families, were built in 1918. Another 100 units were built in the 1940s in response to the post-World War II housing shortage. Inland Steel retained ownership, renting the homes to employees, until 1969 when it began selling them off. Some additional homes were built in the 1970s.Notable people from Sunnyside include basketball coach Gregg Popovich and venture capitalist Tim Draper.

The Majestic Star II (formerly known as the Trump Casino) was located in Gary, Indiana. It was a floating casino that overlooks Lake Michigan in Gary's Buffington Harbor. It was owned by Majestic Star Holdings.

Majestic Star Casino consisted of two casino gaming boats on Lake Michigan in Gary, Indiana's Buffington Harbor, owned and operated by The Majestic Star Casino, LLC. They opened in 1996 as two competing casino boats, sailing for gambling tours on alternate hours, until in 2002 Indiana legalized gambling on stationary boats. Majestic Star acquired the adjacent Trump Casino in 2007 and renamed it Majestic Star II. The two boats each had three floors of gaming, with a combined 1,900 slot machines, table games, a high-limit VIP room, a poker room, and a baccarat room. Dining options included a steakhouse and a buffet. The casinos closed in April, 2021. One license was transferred to the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, located inland in Gary.

Washington Park or Park Addition is a neighborhood in the Indiana Harbor section of East Chicago, Indiana, near the city park with which it shares its name. It is bounded on the north by U.S. Route 12, and on the south by 144th Street.

E.J. Block Athletic Field is a stadium in East Chicago, Indiana that opened in 1942. It is primarily used for amateur and professional baseball, and is the home field of the Calumet College of St. Joseph's Crimson Wave Baseball team which play in the CCAC. It is also the home park of the East Chicago Central High School baseball team and the East Chicago Post 369 American Legion summer baseball team.

Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago (formerly Showboat Mardi Gras Casino, Harrah's East Chicago, and Resorts East Chicago) is a riverboat casino in East Chicago, Indiana, docked at Indiana Harbor on Lake Michigan. It is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Penn National Gaming. The property features a 56,000-square-foot casino that offers 1,900 slot machines including reels, video reels and video poker; more than 40 table games; a high limit gaming room that is on land adjacent to the riverboat; and a 288-room hotel.

Washington High School was a public high school in East Chicago, Indiana, which opened in 1898 but closed in 1986. Washington High School merged with Roosevelt High School to become East Chicago Central High School, known in the area as "Central."

The Buffington Harbor is located on the shores of Gary, Indiana United States. It is home to restaurants, hotels, and two casino boats owned by Don Barden

Indiana Harbor Public Library, also known as Grand Boulevard Carnegie Library, is a historic Carnegie library located at 3605 Grand Boulevard in East Chicago, Lake County, Indiana. It was built in 1913, and is a one-story, Arts and Crafts style brick building on a raised basement. An addition was constructed in 1931. The building has a clay tile hipped roof and an entry porch supported by square brick columns. The building was constructed with a $20,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation.: 5–6 The library was abandoned in 1983, and its interior woodwork plundered. The property was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Since 2005, efforts have been made by the City of East Chicago Department of Redevelopment and the Carnegie Performing Arts Association to save the building and begin a $4-million renovation.

Calumet is the portion of East Chicago, Indiana located east of the Indiana Harbor and Ship Canal and south of Chicago Avenue (Indiana State Road 312). The neighborhood is bisected by the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad. The area west of the tracks is referred to as Calumet proper, or as "West Calumet" (a term also often used specifically for the now-shuttered housing complex at the neighborhood's southwest corner). The area east of the tracks is known as "East Calumet." Like many East Chicago neighborhoods (including Roxana and Marktown), the residential part of Calumet is surrounded entirely by industrial land: the Indiana Harbor and Ship Canal to the west, the Chicago Avenue industrial corridor to the north, a Citgo tank farm to the east, and the DuPont site and USS Lead site to the south. Beyond its industrial rim, the neighborhood is bounded by the Grand Calumet River and Hammond's Hessville neighborhood to the south, Southside to the west, Indiana Harbor to the north, and the Gary-Chicago Airport to the east. Notable local attractions include Riley Park, one of the city's largest parks. Riley Park hosts an annual festival known as Calumet Day, which has been held since 1994. The neighborhood is also home to the Carmelite Home for Girls, an orphanage established in 1913 by Maria Teresa of St. Joseph. Many historic churches dot the neighborhood. Calumet was, for decades, one of the only neighborhoods in East Chicago to welcome African American residents, along with New Addition and North Harbor. That legacy continues today; as of 2013, the neighborhood's population was 71% African American, and 30% Hispanic.

North Harbor is a neighborhood in northeastern East Chicago, Indiana. It constitutes the portion of the Indiana Harbor section north of 138th Street. The neighborhood is home to one of the highest concentrations of affordable housing in the United States.The north end of North Harbor's residential area is just south of East Chicago's marina district, home to the Ameristar Casino East Chicago, the Jeorse Park beach, and the East Chicago marina. As of 2016, city plans called for the construction of a pedestrian overpass that would enable North Harbor residents to walk to the marina district by 2022. Beyond the marina district lies the vast manmade peninsula that houses the Indiana Harbor Works operated by ArcelorMittal.
