Sence Valley Forest Park is located between Ibstock and Heather in North West Leicestershire, and within the National Forest, England. It is situated on the site of a former open cast mine where, between 1982 and 1996, eight million tonnes of coal were extracted by opencast mining. The 60-hectare site has since been transformed by tree planting and the creation of lakes and is now managed by Forestry England. The River Sence flows through the park. A series of paths provide access to a picnic area and the various fishing opportunities. There are also toilets and parking facilities for both the able bodied and the disabled. The park is also home to Sence Valley Forest Park parkrun, a free timed 5km running and walking event held every Saturday at 9am.

Ibstock Community College is a coeducational secondary school located in Ibstock in the English county of Leicestershire. Previously a community middle school administered by Leicestershire County Council, in September 2012 Ibstock Community College converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the LIFE Multi-Academy Trust. In September 2022 the school expanded its age range to 16, becoming a secondary school. Ibstock Leisure Complex forms part of the school campus, and is jointly run by the school and North West Leicestershire District Council. The leisure complex offers facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, sports hall, sports pitches, dance studio and meeting rooms. The facilities are open for public use outside of school hours.

It is within the National Forest, just off the A511 road between Coalville and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, in 2001 it had a population of 2,149.

According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,149, increasing to 2,212 (including Donington le Heath) at the 2011 census. The parish includes Ravenstone, part of Snibston and the hamlet of Sinope. The parish was created in 1884.

Snibston Grange is a 3.2 hectare Local Nature Reserve on the western outskirts of Coalville in Leicestershire. It is owned and managed by Leicestershire County Council.This was formerly the garden of the local colliery manager, and is now part of Snibston Country Park. It has two fishing lakes, a Victorian arboretum with a wide variety of mature trees, a wetland area and a wildflower meadow.There is access by footpaths from Coalville and Ravenstone.

Donington le Heath is a village on the River Sence just over 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Coalville in North West Leicestershire. Donington is contiguous with the village of Hugglescote immediately to the east. The population of the village is included in the civil parish of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath. Donington le Heath and Hugglescote and were part of the parish of Ibstock until 1878, when they were formed into a separate civil parish. In 1936 the parish was absorbed by the then urban district of Coalville. The civil parish of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath was reinstated by an order made in May 2010, and the new parish council held its first meeting in May 2011.

Heather and Ibstock railway station is a disused railway station on the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway. It served the village of Heather and town of Ibstock. It was originally named Heather, but with the industrial expansion of nearby Ibstock the request to have it renamed to include that town was accepted in 1894. It closed to passengers in 1931 but closed to parcel traffic in 1951. Goods continued to pass through until 1954 when the line was closed from Hugglescote to Shackerstone. The site has since been demolished and is now part of a housing estate which now occupies the entire former station site.

Donington le Heath Manor House Museum, now 'The 1620s House and Garden at Donington le Heath' is a surviving example of a manor house built over seven hundred years ago in Donington le Heath, near the town of Coalville, Leicestershire. It was once owned by a relative of one of the Gunpowder plotters, and is now managed by Leicestershire County Council. The Museum is accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA)

It includes the villages of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath, each of which is about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Coalville. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 4,446.The council consists of nine elected councillors who serve the whole parish.At its annual meeting, held in May each year, the council appoints a chairman and vice-chairman. The current chairman is Councillor Russell Johnson (Labour) and the current vice-chairman is Councillor Clark Robinson . Clockwise, from the north, it borders the unparished area of Coalville and the parishes of Ellistown and Battleflat, Ravenstone with Snibston and Ibstock.
