High Vinnalls

Mortimer Forest is a forest on the Shropshire/Herefordshire border in England, near the town of Ludlow. It covers hilly terrain, including the marilyn of High Vinnalls, rising to 375 metres (1,230 ft).

St Bartholomew's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Richard's Castle, Herefordshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It stands close to the castle of the same name as the village, which was built to command this part of the Welsh Marches. The village is partly in Shropshire and the county boundary is not far from the church. Notably, the tower is detached from the main body of the church, and stands about 11 yards (10 m) to its east.

Pipe Aston is a small village and civil parish in the far north of Herefordshire, close to the border with Shropshire. It has a population of about 24.It is situated on the Wigmore to Ludlow road. National Cycle Network route 44 passes through, en route between Ludlow and Leominster. The village is just north of Elton. Mortimer Forest is in the vicinity and the High Vinnalls hill is in the parish. The village features the 12th century St Giles parish church.

The Elan aqueduct crosses Wales and the Midlands of England, running eastwards from the Elan Valley Reservoirs in Mid Wales to Birmingham's Frankley Reservoir, carrying drinking water for Birmingham.It delivers enormous quantities of water by gravity across the mid-Wales countryside, through north Herefordshire, south Shropshire and into the West Midlands through eleven major river valleys. The aqueduct is 73 miles (117 km) long, down which the water travels at less than two miles per hour (3 km/h), taking one and a half days to get to Birmingham.

Moor Park School is a coeducational preparatory day and boarding school in the village of Richard's Castle, near Ludlow, England. It educates about 300 children and is located within the Diocese of Shrewsbury.

Richard's Castle is a village, castle and two civil parishes on the border of the counties of Herefordshire and Shropshire in England. The Herefordshire part of the parish had a population of 250 at the 2011 Census, the Shropshire part, 424. The village lies on the B4361 road, 5+1⁄2 miles (8.9 km) south of the historic market town of Ludlow. It is a dispersed settlement, with an older core near the castle, 3⁄4 mile (1.2 km) to the north-west of the larger main part of the village which is on the B4361. On the B4361 is the village hall, and The Castle Inn traditional public house.

Elton is a hamlet and civil parish in the far north of Herefordshire. It is situated on the Wigmore to Ludlow road. The village is northeast of Leinthall Starkes and south of Pipe Aston. National Cycle Network route 44 passes through, en route between Ludlow and Leominster.

Oakly Park, Bromfield, Shropshire, England is a country house dating from the 18th century. In the early 19th century, the house was restored and extended by Charles Robert Cockerell, Surveyor to the Bank of England for his friend Robert Henry Clive. The private home of the Earls of Plymouth, Oakly Park is a Grade II* listed building.

Overton is a small village in south Shropshire, England. Overton lies west of the River Teme, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of the town of Ludlow and close to the border with Herefordshire. The B4361 (until 1979 the A49) road runs through. It is in the civil parish of Richard's Castle (Shropshire), the village to its south. In the Domesday Book it is recorded as the manor of Avretone, which included Richard's Castle. This manor at the time was recorded as belonging to the hundred of Cutestornes, a hundred of Herefordshire. Around the time of Henry I (1100-1139) the hundreds of Shropshire were greatly reformed and the hundred of Munslow was created; this hundred took in Overton.

St Mary the Virgin's Church is a former priory church in the village of Bromfield, Shropshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Ludlow, the archdeaconry of Ludlow, and the diocese of Hereford. Its benefice is united with those of 5 other parishes to form the Bromfield Benefice. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

Bromfield Priory was a priory in Shropshire, England, located at Bromfield near Ludlow. It was a college of secular canons, founded before 1061. The Domesday Book of 1086 records an unusual amount of detail of the priory and its history. The priory held 20 hides of land in 1066 and 10 hides by 1086, including land at Halford, Dinchope, Ashford Bowdler, Felton, Burway, and Ledwyche, as well as the hamlets of Prior’s Halton, Lady Halton and Hill Halton. In 1086 there were 12 canons. St Giles in Ludford was a chapel of the priory. From 1258, the Priory was under the control of Gloucester Abbey: one of the priors of Bromfield, Henry Foliot, subsequently became Abbot of Gloucester. In 1538, as part of the dissolution of the monasteries, the priory was closed; the priory house was acquired in 1541 by Charles Foxe. It remained the Foxe family home until it burned down in the 17th century. The priory church survives as Bromfield's parish church.

National Cycle Network Route 44, part of the National Cycle Network, connects Shrewsbury, Shropshire with Cinderford, Gloucestershire. The part of the route from Shrewsbury to Bromfield is signed - the remainder of the route is currently unsigned. The section from Shrewsbury to Leominster is advertised as the Six Castles Cycleway. The six castles on or near the route are (in geographical order from north to south): Shrewsbury Castle, Bishop's Castle, Stokesay Castle, Ludlow Castle, Richard's Castle and Croft Castle.
