Church of St Mary, Chesterblade

Small Down Knoll, or Small Down Camp, is a Bronze Age hill fort near Evercreech in Somerset, England. The hill is on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills, and rises to 222 m (728 ft). Finds of flints indicate a prehistoric Mesolithic occupation. The fort has multiple ramparts (multivallate) following the contours of the hilltop, enclosing an area of about 2.4 ha (6 acres). Most of the perimeter is a double rampart, but the flatter eastern side has an extra counterscarp rampart with well-defined double ditches. There are two entrances to the south-east: one is a simple opening with evidence of a guardhouse; and the other shows linear features of a holloway. The fort contains about 14 round barrows (tumuli), which form a line of burials running east–west along the crest of the hill. The fort and the barrows appear to be Bronze Age, but excavations have found some Iron Age pottery in the barrows and the ditches. The fort is near the Fosse Way Roman road. The name of the nearby village of Stoney Stratton means on the stoney stone paved road, which implies there was also a local Roman road in the area, but there are no Roman or post-Roman remains on the site. The fort was excavated in 1904 by Mr. H. St. George Gray, the finds included flints, pottery, and burials sites with human remains.The hill fort is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and an Open Access area under a DEFRA scheme.

Cranmore West is a railway station on the East Somerset Railway.

Merryfield Lane Halt is a railway station at the summit of the East Somerset Railway. It was built in 1981 and originally served as the terminus of the railway.

Maes Down (grid reference ST647406) is a 0.2 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Shepton Mallet and Stoney Stratton in Somerset, notified in 1985. It is a Geological Conservation Review site. The rocks seen at Maes Down were laid down about 190 million years ago, during the Upper Pliensbachian and Lower Toarcian Stages of the Jurassic Period of geological times, when this part of Britain lay beneath the sea.

Doulting Railway Cutting (grid reference ST648424) is a 2.8 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Somerset, notified in 1971. The cutting was made in the 1850s for the East Somerset Railway which still runs steam trains through the cutting today. It shows rocks of the Middle Jurassic period including both the Inferior Oolite/Great Oolite Junction and the Bajocian-Bathonian stage boundary.

Cranmore is a village and civil parish east of Shepton Mallet, in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. The parish includes the hamlets of Waterlip, East Cranmore and Dean.

The Tithe Barn at Manor Farm (also known as Abbey Barn) in Doulting, Somerset, England, was built in the 15th century, and has been designated as a Grade I listed building, and scheduled as an ancient monument.Tithe barns were used to store tithes, from the local farmers to the ecclesiastical landlords. In this case the landlord was Glastonbury Abbey. A tithe (from Old English teogoþa "tenth") is a one-tenth part of something, paid as a (usually) voluntary contribution or as a tax or levy, usually to support a Christian religious organization. The stone barn has eight bays supported by buttresses and two wagon porches. The cruck roof trusses, at both ends of the barn, have timbers which have been shown by dendrochronology to have been felled between 1288 and 1290. There are some curved windbraces.The stonework is showing signs water damage and erosion at the base of the walls.

Doulting Stone Quarry (grid reference ST648436) is a limestone quarry at Doulting, on the Mendip Hills, Somerset, England. At present there are only three quarries quarrying Doulting stone. The largest, The Doulting Stone Quarry, was producing building stone in Roman times. In the 20th century it was operated by the Keevil family. Until 1994 it was operated by Amalgamated Roadstone Corporation (now part of Hanson plc) but was then bought out as a stand-alone business. Ham & Doulting Stone Co Ltd own the east quarry which was originally in use for centuries after which followed a period of inactivity. It was reopened 12 years ago. The quarry also offers primary and secondary cutting and profiling.The stone quarried at Doulting is a 2 m (6.6 ft) thick layer of oolite of middle Jurassic age, deposited as sediments in fairly shallow coastal seas. The stone is unusual as it shows unconformity at the division between the oolite and Carboniferous limestone beneath, representing two types of rocks laid down millions of years apart, the intervening sediments having been eroded away before the Jurassic strata were laid down. It has a high level of water absorption and porosity.The stone is used for building purposes, including Glastonbury Abbey and the west façade of Wells Cathedral, and other structures in the cathedral close, such as the fortified gate called The Bishop's Eye.

St Aldhelm's Well in Doulting, Somerset, England, is an ancient spring which is the source of the River Sheppey. The site is a Grade II listed building, although it is a medieval site, most of what remains has been rebuilt.The well was named after St Aldhelm after he died in Doulting village in 709, some accounts say on the day of his death he sat by the well singing psalms before being carried up to the church in the village where he died. The Church of St Aldhelm in Doulting was dedicated to Aldhelm in the 8th century.Folklore has attributed healing powers to the spring water in which pilgrims were known to have bathed, the well is still visited by people who use the water and leave flowers and other offerings of reverence. The spring has never been known to fail, even in times of drought.Water flows through two low pointed arches in a stone wall in the hillside, along a bathing pool with stone sides and collapsed stone walls on each side. The carved masonry which can be seen around the site indicates the bathing pool would have once had a roof over it. The water passes through a wall to fill a stone drinking trough in the lane below, pouring over the trough's edge into a grate in the floor. The water passes under the lane into a confluence with a group of springs to the west of Doulting to become the River Sheppey, which ultimately joins the River Brue.Next to the well is a chamber containing the remains of a waterwheel which once pumped water up the hill to supply drinking water for Doulting village, a well head built in the late 19th century still stands in the village featuring a wrought-iron pump handle. The well head is also a Grade II listed building.

Doulting is a village and civil parish 1.5 miles (2 km) east of Shepton Mallet, on the A361, in the Mendip district of Somerset, England.

The Anglican Church of St James in Milton Clevedon, within the English county of Somerset, was rebuilt in 1790. It is a Grade II* listed building.The first church in the village was in the 12th century. The advowson was held by Bruton Abbey until the Dissolution of the Monasteries. After this, in 1545 the church was dedicated to St James. The rebuilding in 1790 used stone from the abbey and incorporated some fabric from the medieval church. Victorian restoration occurred in the 1860s. The three stage tower is supported by diagonal buttresses and contains five bells, the oldest of which was cast in Bristol around 1380.The parish is part of the benefice of Evercreech with Chesterblade and Milton Clevedon within the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
