Smyrna High School is a high school in the Rutherford County school district located in Smyrna, Tennessee, United States.

Idler's Retreat, also known as the Dillon-Tucker-Cheney House, is a historic house in Smyrna, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built circa 1865 by J. D. Dillon. In 1882, it was purchased by John F. Tucker, and renamed Tucker Place. It was designed in the Greek Revival and Italianate architectural styles. By the 1940s, it was inherited by Brainard Cheney's wife. The couple entertained other writers like Robert Penn Warren, Caroline Gordon, Flannery O'Connor and Allen Tate. The house was later inherited by Roy Neel, who served as the chief of staff to Vice President Al Gore. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 19, 2004.

Smyrna Airport (IATA: MQY, ICAO: KMQY, FAA LID: MQY) is a public general aviation and military use airport located two nautical miles (4 km) north of the central business district of Smyrna, a town in Rutherford County, Tennessee, United States. It is owned by the Smyrna / Rutherford County Airport Authority. Smyrna Airport is the third largest airport in Tennessee and is the state's busiest general aviation airport. Prior to March 1971, the facility was an active military installation known as Sewart Air Force Base. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a reliever airport for Nashville International Airport, which is located twelve nautical miles (22 km) to the north.

Elmwood Plantation is a former plantation and a historic mansion, located in Rutherford County near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It was built in the 1840s for Thomas Hord, a lawyer who owned slaves. It was once one of the largest plantation complexes in Middle Tennessee. The mansion was designed in the Classical Revival architectural style. During the Battle of Murfreesboro (also known as the Battle of Stones River) in 1862 to 1863, the Elmwood mansion was used as a hospital by the Union Army.Elmwood has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 15, 1973, for its architectural and military significance.

Stewarts Creek High School is a public high school in the Rutherford County School system, located in Smyrna, Tennessee. The school opened in August 2013 with an estimate of 1500 students: 600 freshmen, around 300 sophomores and around 150 juniors and seniors. As of August 2021, SCHS currently has an enrollment of over 2,300. The school is located in southwest Smyrna, Tennessee. The students of the school come from surrounding Smyrna, LaVergne and Blackman high/middle schools as well as Rock Springs Middle School and Stewarts Creek Middle School. The current principal is Dr. Clark Harrell and the assistant principals include Tory Atwood, Janet Flannery, Casey Lawrence, and Jennifer Smith, who also acts as the schools Athletic Director. Kevin Dyson from the Tennessee Titans served as an assistant principal and athletic director for the school's first two years. The school's rivals consist of LaVergne and nearby Smryna. The $46.3 million facility stands at an outstanding 356,000 sq. ft. sq. and is the second largest school in Middle Tennessee. The school holds one of the best fine arts programs in Middle Tennessee. This school is considered one of the best schools in Rutherford County.

Blackman is an unincorporated community in Rutherford County, Tennessee, located on the west side of the city of Murfreesboro. The community was founded in 1808 and was originally named Blackman's Shop. By the time of the Civil War, it had a store, doctor's offices, a school, and churches. The Blackman post office was established in 1898. It was later merged into the Murfreesboro post office and is located in zip codes 37128 and 37129. The community celebrated its 200th birthday at the annual Blackman Barbecue at Blackman Middle School. The Blackman area is home to three Rutherford County Schools: Blackman High School, Blackman Middle School, and Blackman Elementary School. In April 2009, the Blackman area was struck by an EF4 tornado. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, and many more were heavily damaged.
