Brothertoft

Langrick Bridge is a village in the civil parish of Holland Fen with Brothertoft in the Borough of Boston, Lincolnshire, England. The village is in the Lincolnshire Fens, 5 miles (8 km) north-west of Boston and 24 miles (40 km) south-east of Lincoln. It is at the southern side of the bridge of the same name which spans the River Witham. At the north side of the bridge the settlement is in the civil parish of Langriville. The southern boundary of the village of Langrick is 200 yards (180 m) north from the bridge.The bridge has moorings on both banks, the next nearest moorings being 5 miles (8 km) upstream at Chapel Hill, and 2 miles (3 km) downstream at Anton's Gowt. The B1192 Coningsby to Kirton road runs through the settlement, which at the north of the bridge is Main Road, and at the south is Langrick Road that has an immediate junction with Ferry Lane which runs west to the North Forty Foot Bank.It was formerly served by Langrick railway station. Closest to the bridge is Witham House, a Grade II listed two-storey building, dating to the early 18th century with later additions. To the south of the bridge on Ferry Lane and Langrick Road are detached and semi-detached houses, two farms, a fuel station, a shop selling boating equipment and food supplies, and a former Wesleyan Methodist chapel, built of red brick, with a datestone inscribed with '1868'.

Hubberts Bridge railway station serves the village of Hubberts Bridge in Lincolnshire, England. It is located on the Sleaford to Boston section of the Nottingham to Skegness line. Opened along with the line by the Boston, Sleaford and Midland Counties Railway in 1859, The eastbound platform is longer than the westbound platform: it can accommodate a three-car train, whereas the westbound platform can only accommodate a two-car train.The station is now owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway who provide all rail services. A signal box at the West end of the station supervises a level crossing and the western end of the single track section from Boston. However, the station itself is unstaffed and offers limited facilities other than two shelters, bicycle storage, timetables and modern 'Help Points'. The full range of tickets for travel are purchased from the guard on the train at no extra cost, there are no retail facilities at this station.

Hubberts Bridge is a village in the borough of Boston, Lincolnshire, England. It is situated within the civil parish of Frampton, and approximately 3 miles (5 km) west from Boston. The village name derives from the bridge crossing the South Forty-Foot Drain. Originally it was a wooden structure, thought to have been owned by Robert Hubbert, born on the 2 March in Lincolnshire and died in 1850 in Boston, Lincolnshire. A new wooden bridge was erected about 1850, but was replaced again by a brick structure in 1888 by the county justices for the Parts of Holland from designs of John Kingston, county surveyor.The village is served by Hubberts Bridge railway station, and has a local public house, the Wheatsheaf Inn, and a community centre.

The North Forty Foot Bank is a settlement which runs about 6 miles (10 km) along the North Forty Foot Drain, about five to nine miles north-west of Boston Lincolnshire, England. It begins just south of the parish of Chapel Hill and runs along the drain to Toft Tunnel, just north of Hubberts Bridge. Despite its length, it only consists of the area on the north side of the drain, which was built in 1720 by Earl Fitzwilliam. The North Forty Foot Bank forms the boundary between Harts Grounds and Pelhams Lands. A row of 29 brick and slate cottages were built between the North Forty Foot Bank and the hamlet of Brothertoft by Major John Cartwright to accommodate the workers of his red brick woad mill in the late 18th century. This place was then called Isatica, which is Latin for "woad". After Cartwright left Brothertoft for London, the hamlet of Isatica fell into ruin and disappeared.Formerly extra-parochial, the North Forty Foot Bank was created a civil parish in 1858, but in 1906 became part of the civil parish of Holland Fen with Brothertoft. Settlements within North Forty Foot Bank include: Pelhams Land Harts Ground Holland Fen Hedgehog Bridge lies about 5 miles (8.0 km) north west of Boston, Lincolnshire, on the North Forty Foot Bank. It was named after a hump-backed bridge over the drain which no longer exists. Hedgehog Bridge School was built in 1880 by the North-East Holland Fen School Board for 95 children. It opened on 4 April 1881, became a Council School in 1903, and a County School about 1947. It finally closed in December 1969, and was demolished in 2010. Toft Tunnel lies at the junction of the North Forty Foot Bank and the B1192 Langrick Road. Today it consists mainly of farms.

Thornton Le Fen is a small civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) north from the town of Boston. Thornton Le Fen lies in Wildmore Fen, created in 1812 after the fen was drained in 1802. It is mostly farmland with a population of 345, and contains the hamlets of Bunkers Hill and Gipsey Bridge. The Census of 2011 showed a reduced population of 322.Gipsey Bridge School was built in 1859 and was taken over by the Wildmore Fen United District School Board in 1879, when it was renamed the Gipsey Bridge Board School, until the Board was abolished in 1903. Following this it was known as Thornton Le Fen Council School, Thornton Le Fen County School, and Gipsey Bridge County Primary School, before it took its present name, Gipsey Bridge Primary School, in 1999.
