Humberstone Park LNR

North Evington is an area, suburb, electoral ward and administrative division of the city of Leicester, England. North Evington is bordered by Belgrave to the west, Charnwood to the north, Evington and Humberstone & Hamilton to the east and Spinney Hills to the south. It is an inclusion of Highfields. It is in the eastern part of the city. The area contains Leicestershire and Rutland Fire and Rescue Service’s Eastern Station on Hastings Road, Spence Street Swimming Baths and the Merlyn Vaz Walk In and Health Centre. The development was originally in the parish of Evington, disconnected from the village itself. The areas in between have since been infilled. It has been absorbed by the urban district of Highfields which is predominantly a working class area with rows of Victorian terraces to satisfy the needs of workers. The area was designed and constructed as a suburb by Arthur Wakerley from the 1880s onwards. By the First World War the area was entirely developed. The area, which was originally outside the borough boundary, was annexed to the borough of Leicester in 1892. In September 2022 the area saw widespread unrest between Hindu and Muslim communities. In a Leicester City Council byelection the Conservatives took 49.6% of the vote with a 32.7-point swing. Labour, the incumbent party came third in the vote.

Coleman was an electoral ward and administrative division of the city of Leicester, England, consisting of the Leicester suburbs of Crown Hills and North Evington. It was replaced by North Evington ward in 2015.

Leicester East is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since December 2019 by Claudia Webbe, who was elected as a Labour MP, but now sits as an Independent due to her suspension and subsequent expulsion from the party in November 2021 after she was convicted of harassment.

Leicester General Hospital (LGH) is a National Health Service hospital located in the suburb of Evington, about three miles east of Leicester City Centre, and is a part of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. It has approximately 430 beds. The hospital is the largest employer in the area.

Crown Hills Community College (often abbreviated as CHCC), is a secondary school in Leicester, England with more than 1500 pupils and more than 200 staff members. Crown Hills is a sports college and with a large field for sports, especially the football grounds called Goals.

Humberstone railway station was a railway station serving the eastern side of Leicester. It was on the Great Northern Railway Leicester branch. The station opened in 1882 and closed to regular traffic in 1953 but remained open for summer weekend specials until 1962.

Spinney Hills is an inner city area of Leicester, England. It is situated to the north of the core Highfields area, around Spinney Hill Park. To the north is Northfields, to the east North Evington, to the west is the railway line, and to the south is the main part of Highfields. It is also a ward of the City of Leicester whose population at the 2011 census was 25,561.

The Towers Hospital was a mental health facility in Humberstone, Leicestershire, England. The administration building, which became known as George Hine House, is a Grade II listed building.

Rowlatts Hill (also known as Rowlatts Hill Estate, or R.H.E.) is an eastern, residential suburb of the English city of Leicester. It contains mostly council-owned housing. The suburb is roughly bordered by Spencefield Lane to the east and Whitehall Road to the south, which separates it from neighbouring Evington. A second boundary within the estate consists of Coleman Road to Ambassador Road through to Green Lane Road; Rowlatts Hill borders Crown Hills to the west. To the north, at the bottom of Rowlatts Hill is Humberstone Park which is located within Green Lane Road, Ambassador Road and also leads on to Uppingham Road (the A47), which is also Rowlatts Hill. Goodwood, a sub-area within Rowlatts Hill, is located towards the south-east of the area. The Leicester General hospital is located near Goodwood on Coleman Road which is south of Uppingham Road (the A47).

Charnwood was an electoral ward and administrative division of the city of Leicester, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 13,291. It comprised the northern Leicester suburb of Northfields and its Tailby and Morton ex-council estates. Northfields has had a bad reputation for criminal activities. Despite being only 3 small estates it was responsible for 30% of the crime rate within the Leicester area. In response The Northfields Project was set upin order to help to combat crime and make Northfields a safer place to live. The scheme improved areas such as security fencing, lighting and public recreational spaces.Charnwood was bounded by the wards of Belgrave to the west and Rushey Mead to the north-west on the other side of the Midland Main Line, Humberstone & Hamilton to the east on the other side of Victoria Road East, Coleman to the south-east at The Portway and North Evington to the south at Hastings Road. The Troon Industrial Area and Estate is to the north on the other side of Gipsy Lane.Northfields was named for one of three open fields that once nearly surrounded Leicester. The field was enclosed in 1764 and then used as residential building land 'in good time for the population increase' of the industrial revolution, meaning that Leicester was largely spared the overcrowding problems typical of industrialising towns of that time.The Charnwood ward, which was represented on Leicester City Council and covered the area, was abolished in 2015 with most of the area now being part of the Troon ward.

Madani Schools Federation is a Muslim secondary school in Leicester, England. Based in the Evington neighbourhood, Madani Schools Federation caters for the city's Muslim population, with 300 places for boys and girls each. The building itself, designed by Leicester firm Pick Everard with an Islamic design including an Arabic-style courtyard. There is also an associated community centre and madrassa. The school has also won architectural awards including the Community Benefit award in the regional finals of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors awards in May 2008 and competed in the international finals in the autumn. It is the first state funded Muslim school in the East-Midlands, as 90% of the £18m came from the government, with the Muslim community in Leicester raising the rest. The school has received much press attention as a Muslim secondary school where it is held up as a model for faith schools.
