A.J. Fisher House

Chilhowee Inn was an inn built by the Schlosser Leather Company in 1902 in Walland, Tennessee. It was constructed as a five room cottage to house executives visiting the nearby tannery. This was the last stop of the Knoxville and Augusta line of the Southern Railway System, and the starting point for the Little River Railroad. The Inn was named by Mrs. Rachel Fisher, wife of the builder, Mr. A. J. Fisher who was also superintendent of the tannery.One year after completion, an inn was added to the structure to provide accommodations for additional guests and teachers. The inn was used as a boarding house for teachers at the public school during the school year. The rent was paid for by the tannery. After the tannery shut down in the early 1930s, the inn became a nationally renowned lodge for people visiting the newly formed Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Excellent service and delicious meals prompted visitors to speak and write of their time spent at Chilhowee Inn. The inn appeared in many national publications of the time. After its heyday, Chilhowee Inn spent a brief time as a restaurant, serving the local community of Walland. It lay dormant for almost three decades until new owners began to restore it in 2005. Chilhowee Inn opened as a bed and breakfast in February 2008 which makes it the oldest actively operating inn in Blount County. The building was considered for listing on the National Register of Historic Places as part of a survey of historic properties in Blount County, but because of several remodelings after 1931, it was found ineligible.

Chilhowee Mountain is the name of two non-contiguous ridges in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The ridges run in a northeastern to southwestern direction. The northern section is at the outer edge of the Great Smoky Mountains, stretching from the Little Pigeon River watershed at the northeast to the Little Tennessee River and Chilhowee Dam to the southwest. The southern section runs from Tellico Plains to the Ocoee River in Polk County. The northern section is traversed by the Foothills Parkway from Walland to its terminus near Chilhowee.

Walland is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Blount County, Tennessee. Its population was 281 as of the 2020 census. Walland is the site of a post office and is the place name associated with zip code 37886, which covers an area beyond the Walland community.

Bethlehem Methodist Church is a historic church in Wildwood, Tennessee. The church was organized in 1886 and its Gothic Revival building was completed that same year. The church building has a gable front and a prominent bell tower. The doorway and windows are crowned by Gothic arches, elements of the Gothic Revival style that was popular for late 19th-century churches in the region.The congregation was dissolved in 1966, but the church is still used sometimes for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions. The church and its adjacent cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Heritage High School is a public high school located approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) outside the city of Maryville, in Blount County, Tennessee, USA, which opened in 1977. It was created through the consolidation of four community high schools (Townsend, Walland, Porter and Everett) into a comprehensive high school.Heritage High School is one of two secondary schools operated by Blount County Schools. Two other public high schools in Blount County that are operated by the cities of Maryville and Alcoa. The school provides education primarily to students from Townsend, Walland, Louisville, Rockford and Alcoa communities. In the 2009–2010 school year, the student population at Heritage was 94.62% White, 2.84% Latino, 1.87% African-American, 0.06% Native Hawaiian-Pacific Islander, and 0.42% Asian.

Fairfield is an unincorporated community in Blount County, Tennessee. Fairfield is 5.8 miles (9.3 km) east of Maryville.

Blackberry Farm is a luxury resort in Walland, Tennessee, bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was rated the best small hotel in America by Zagat Survey in 2004. Blackberry Farm is part of the Relais & Châteaux association.

The Lambert Acres Golf Club is a 27-hole golf course in Maryville, Tennessee with views of the Great Smoky Mountains. The golf course contains 9,525 yards of rolling hills with slopes throughout the entire landscape. The course opened in 1965 and was designed by Ray Franklin. The club currently has three different 9-hole courses which are named White, Orange, and Red. Each course has nine holes but are usually played two at a time. The club is owned by Leon Berrong and managed by his son Nick.

Wildwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Blount County, Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,157.It is the location of Bethlehem Methodist Church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sam Houston Schoolhouse State Historic Site is a single-room log cabin-style schoolhouse in Maryville, Tennessee, built in 1794. Sam Houston taught at the school as a young man, before the War of 1812.Open to the public, the schoolhouse is a Tennessee state historic site operated under an agreement with the Tennessee Historical Commission. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.The school house was originally built by a Revolutionary War veteran, Andrew Kennedy along with Henry McCulloch and other neighbors. The National Heritage Area Program and Blount County Tennessee: A Feasibility Study says “Sometime after his arrival in Tennessee, probably in 1794, Kennedy and Henry McCulloch joined with some neighbors to construct a small log schoolhouse in a clearing less than a mile from the Kennedy home. No definitive explanation can now be given for the decision to locate the schoolhouse at the somewhat unusual site more than a half-mile from Little River. Presumably its proximity to the refreshing spring which flows nearby and perhaps its central position in relation to the original builders' homes were factors in the selection of the site.”
