Parres

Arriondas (officially, in Asturian, Arriondas/Les Arriondes) is a village in the Spanish municipality of Parres, Asturias. It is located where the River Piloña joins the river Sella, in a narrow valley. The convergence of rivers makes it an important place for fishing. The river makes a very good spot for canoeing, and every year the International Sella River Descent is held. This consists of a canoe race down the river Sella to the coastal village of Ribadesella. This competition brings in significant numbers of tourists. These make up one of the most important of the village's economic activities.

The Piloña is a river in northern Spain flowing through the Autonomous Community of Asturias.

The Monastery of San Pedro de Villanueva is a Catholic religious complex located in Villanueva de Cangas, in Cangas de Onis, Asturias, Spain. This Romanesque monastery was previously owned by the order of Benedictines. A church here supposedly was founded by Alfonso I the Catholic, son in law of Pelagius of Asturias. The remaining structures now date from later periods. In the 12th century, the monastery was built adjacent to the church. The buildings underwent substantial rebuilding after the 17th century. In 1835, the monastery was dissolved. In the present century, the monastery has become a national hotel, a parador. The church is still in use.

Santa Cruz de Cangas de Onís is a small Roman Catholic chapel in Cangas de Onís, the first capital of the Kingdom of Asturias, in what is now northern Spain. It was founded on an artificial mound (a pagan dolmen) by Favila, second king of Asturias, and his queen, Froiliuba. It was begun in 737 and consecrated that same year on 27 October according to its original foundation stone, which has been called the first literary monument of the Reconquista.Santa Cruz originally housed the Cruz de la Victoria, an oak cross supposedly carried by Pelagius, Favila's father, at the Battle of Covadonga. It was probably the first church constructed after the Islamic invasion of Spain in 711.The church was completely rebuilt on two occasions. First in 1632 and again after its destruction in the Spanish Civil War (1936). Then, local authorities decided to uncover the dolmen beneath it, which had been obscured by a church since the fourth century, when the first chapel was put up on that site. Of the original building only the foundation stone survives.

Triongu is one of eleven parishes (administrative divisions) in Cangas de Onís, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of Asturias, by northern Spain's Picos de Europa mountains. In 942, King Ramiro II of León donated to the bishop Vermudo of Oviedo the churches of San Vicente and Santa Eulalia of Triongu. This was written in a document conserved in the Archive of the Cathedral of Oviedo.

Cangas de Onís (Asturian: Cangues d'Onís "valleys of Onís") is a municipality in the eastern part of the province and autonomous community of Asturias in the northwest of Spain. The capital of the municipality is also Cangas de Onís. More than seventy square kilometres of the conceyu form part of the Parque nacional de los Picos de Europa.
