Trowbridge ( TROH-brij) is the county town of Wiltshire, England, on the River Biss in the west of the county. It is near the border with Somerset and lies 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Bath, 31 miles (50 km) southwest of Swindon and 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Bristol. The town had a population of 37,169 in 2021.Long a market town, the Kennet and Avon canal to the north of Trowbridge played an instrumental part in the town's development as it allowed coal to be transported from the Somerset Coalfield and so marked the advent of steam-powered manufacturing in woollen cloth mills. The town was the foremost producer of this mainstay of contemporary clothing and blankets in south west England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, by which time it held the nickname "The Manchester of the West".The civil parish of Trowbridge had a population of 33,108 at the 2011 census. The parish encompasses the settlements of Longfield, Lower Studley, Upper Studley, Studley Green and Trowle Common.

Parade House is a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse situated in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. It is a centrepiece of what Pevsner's Guide to Wiltshire described in 1960 as “a stretch of palaces” along Fore Street. Built in around 1720 for the wealthy cloth merchant Robert Houlton, Parade House has an elegant and symmetrical façade typical of the Georgian period. It was home to a succession of merchants during the 19th century at a time when Trowbridge was flourishing as a wealthy market town, until becoming the headquarters of Usher's Wiltshire Brewery for most of the 20th century.

The Polebarn Hotel in Trowbridge, Wiltshire (formerly Polebarn House) is a building of historical significance and is Grade II* listed on the Historic England Register. It was built in 1789 by John Clark, a local textile mill owner and clergyman. It passed through successive generations of the Clark family until it was sold by auction in about 1920 to Wiltshire County Council, who used it firstly for Children's Services and later as flats. The house became a hotel in 1978.

Trowbridge Cottage Hospital, was founded in 1870, and opened in The Halve in Trowbridge in 1886. In 1895, the hospital had ten beds. It was later known as Trowbridge District Hospital, and was demolished in the 1960s. It has been replaced with Trowbridge Community Hospital.

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1856, when Trowbridge played an All England Eleven. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match when Wiltshire played Bedfordshire in 1895. From 1895 to present, the ground has hosted 121 Minor Counties Championship matches and 10 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.The ground has hosted a single first-class match, which came in 1990 when a combined Minor Counties side played the touring Indians. The Indian team contained the likes of Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar. The ground has also hosted List-A matches. The first List-A match played on the ground was between Wiltshire and Yorkshire in the 1987 NatWest Trophy. The ground has hosted 2 further List-A matches involving Wiltshire, against Surrey in the 1990 NatWest Trophy and Durham in the 1993 NatWest Trophy. Gloucestershire used the ground for a single List-A match against Hampshire in 1989. In 1991, a combined Minor Counties team used the ground for 2 matches in the 1991 Benson & Hedges Cup.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home of Trowbridge Cricket Club whose 1st XI play in the West of England Premier League Wiltshire division. The ground has undergone a raft of improvements over the last 10 years leading to much improved changing facilities and improvements to bar areas and stages.
