Independent Radio News provides a service of news bulletins, audio and copy to commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom and beyond. The managing director, Tim Molloy, succeeded long-term MD John Perkins in November 2009. Perkins had been MD of IRN since 1989. IRN's shareholders are Global (54.6%), Bauer Radio (22.3%), ITN (19.7%) and The Wireless Group (3.4%).

Mappin House is a Grade II* listed building on Oxford Street which formerly housed a major branch of the Mappin & Webb jewellery company.

The Pantheon was a place of public entertainment on the south side of Oxford Street, London, England. It was designed by James Wyatt and opened in 1772. The main rotunda was one of the largest rooms built in England up to that time and had a central dome somewhat reminiscent of the celebrated Pantheon in Rome. It was built as a set of winter assembly rooms and later briefly converted into a theatre. Before being demolished in 1937, it was a bazaar and a wine merchant's show room for over a hundred years. Marks and Spencer's "Oxford Street Pantheon" branch, at 173 Oxford Street now occupies the site.

The Eastcastle Street robbery was the holdup of a Post Office van in London in May 1952 which, at the time, was Britain's largest postwar robbery. The robbers escaped with £287,000 (estimated to be worth, in 2019, approximately £8,320,000). It occurred around 4:20am on Wednesday 21 May in Eastcastle Street just off Oxford Street, central London, when seven masked men held up a post office van. The robbers used two cars to sandwich the van. The first car emerged slowly from a side street causing the van to slow down, the second car then pulled up alongside. The driver and two attendants were dragged out and coshed and the van was stolen. It was later found abandoned near Regent's Park; 18 of the 31 mailbags were missing. It was found that the van's alarm bell had been tampered with.The robbery heralded the start of the 'project' (i.e. a carefully planned and executed) crime. The mastermind behind the raid was London gangster Billy Hill and the robbers included George "Taters" Chatham and Terry "Lucky Tel" Hogan.Prime Minister Winston Churchill demanded daily updates on the police investigation and the Postmaster General, Earl de la Warr, was required to report to the Parliament of the United Kingdom on what had gone wrong. Yet, despite the involvement of over 1,000 police officers, no one was ever caught.

Pilar Corrias is a British contemporary art gallery founded by Pilar Corrias. Its first gallery space in Eastcastle Street, London, designed by Rem Koolhaas, opened in 2008. At the time, Corrias was the first woman to open a new art gallery in the West End of London for a decade. In July 2021, the gallery opened a second space in Savile Row, London, designed by Oslo architects Hesselbrand, with Chalk Mark, an exhibition by Iranian-American artist Tala Madani.

Eastcastle Street is a street in the City of Westminster. It runs from Newman Street in the east to Great Titchfield Street in the west. It is crossed by Berners Street and Wells Street. Winsley Street runs from its south side. Berners Mews joins it on the north side and Berners Place on the south. It was originally named Castle Street and continued as Great Castle Street beyond Oxford Market square (now Market Place). It was the site of the Eastcastle Street robbery.

The Welsh Church of Central London (Welsh: Eglwys Gymraeg Canol Llundain, EGCLL), also known as The Welsh Baptist Chapel is a Welsh Baptist church in Eastcastle Street, in the City of Westminster, London, England. The church building is a grade II listed building with Historic England on the National Heritage List for England. It currently performs Baptist services bilingually in English and in Welsh as well as hosting concerts following a merger of the Welsh Baptist church with two nearby Independent churches in 2006.

The Photographers' Gallery was founded in London by Sue Davies opening on 14 January 1971, as the first public gallery in the United Kingdom devoted solely to photography.It is also home to the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize, established in 1996 to identify and reward photographic talent and innovation, and the Bar-Tur Photobook Award.
