Florida's Tribute to the Women of the Confederacy

The Sub-Tropical Exposition was held from January until May 1888 in Jacksonville, Florida and seasonally in two subsequent years. Grover Cleveland attended the opening. The exposition building was designed by Ellis & McClure. A brochure was published for the event including railroad information, fruit crops, a note on strawberries, flowers, and hotels. A yellow-fever epidemic hurt tourism in the years after the exposition opened. A fire damaged the expansive exposition building in 1891 and it never reopened. The building was torn down in 1897. A resorvoir took its place. Exhibits of agricultural and horticultural offerings included fruits, trees, flowers, farm crops and grasses. There was a Zoological Collection, an aquarium, sugar mills, cotton gins and other machinery, as well as a Seminole Indian style camp. Hotels, Florida towns, and railway routes also featured. A 47 page brochure was printed by DaCosta Printing and Publishing for the exposition. Harper's Weekly published illustrations from the fair in 1888. O. Pierre Havens published a cabinet photo of the bamboo building at the exposition.

The Bethel Church (formerly Bethel Baptist Institutional Church) is a historically-black Baptist megachurch in Jacksonville, Florida, in the United States. Founded in 1838, it is the city's oldest Baptist congregation. The attendance is 12,000 members. The senior pastor is Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick Jr. The historic church building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Rosa Parks Transit Station is an intermodal transit station in Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. It is operated by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and previously served as Jacksonville's main city bus station as well as a station for the Jacksonville Skyway elevated people mover and the First Coast Flyer bus rapid transit system (before being replaced by the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center). It is located on Hogan Street between State Street and Union Street, and is the Skyway's northern terminus. It is across the street from the Downtown campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville.

The First Baptist Church of Jacksonville is a Southern Baptist megachurch in Downtown Jacksonville, Florida, U.S. As of 2014, First Baptist Church has 28,000 members and an average attendance of around 3,000 for Sunday services. The main Downtown Campus comprises several square blocks of property connected by above-ground crosswalks. The campus includes several auditoriums for services, a Sunday school building, and facilities for First Baptist Academy, a private K-12 school. First Baptist Church has its origins in the oldest Baptist congregation in Jacksonville, Bethel Baptist Church, established in 1838. The church experienced a period of considerable growth in the mid-20th century, eventually encompassing eleven square blocks of downtown Jacksonville. Several former pastors, including Homer G. Lindsay Jr. and Jerry Vines, were widely influential in the Southern Baptist Convention, leading it in both growth and a shift towards conservatism.

Pathways Academy is a Charter School located in Jacksonville, Florida, part of the Duval County Public Schools. It is located in the Downtown Campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville at 101 W. State Street, Suite 3001, which is on the top floor at the college. This school is accredited with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) is a public college in Jacksonville, Florida. It is part of the Florida College System and one of several institutions in that system designated a "state college" as it offers a greater number of four-year bachelor's degrees than traditional community colleges. The college was established in 1966 as Florida Junior College. It has four major physical campuses and several additional centers located around the First Coast region and currently enrolls 52,000 students.

The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is a historic Catholic church in Downtown Jacksonville, Florida, U.S. A parish church in the Diocese of St. Augustine, it represents Jacksonville's oldest Catholic congregation. The current building, dating to 1910, was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1992 as the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and was named a minor basilica in 2013. It is located at 121 East Duval Street; its current pastor is Very Reverend Blair Gaynes.

The Jacksonville Jewish Center was formed by Orthodox Jewish families in Jacksonville, Florida. The congregation incorporated as the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation B'nai Israel in 1901. The congregation grew and a synagogue was built at the corner of Jefferson and Duval Streets in 1907. In 1927 a larger building was built at the corner of Third and Silver Streets in Springfield. It was named the Jacksonville Jewish Center. The center expanded over the next 35 years. By 1959 there were three large buildings, housing a sanctuary, with a chapel, library, social hall, school, auditorium, offices, and other meeting rooms. In 1963 the center started moving to a new site at 3662 Crown Point Road in Mandarin. The official move to the new location occurred in 1976. The Jacksonville Job Corps used the old facilities for some time. The historic center was nominated for the National Register of Historic Places in 2010 and added to the list in 2021. There was a fire in the original building in 2011 and it was demolished. The cornerstone of the building was saved and moved to Klutho Park on the other side of Third Street.

St. John's Cathedral is a cathedral of the Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida, U.S. One of the oldest congregations in Jacksonville, it became the seat of the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Florida in 1951. The current building dates to 1906.

The Old City Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida was established in 1852 as Jacksonville's main burial ground. After the American Civil War the cemetery later interred many Confederate veterans. Because the cemetery is over 160 years old, the Jacksonville Historic Landmarks Commission has deemed it an historic landmark of Jacksonville. The United Daughters of the Confederacy improved the cemetery by placing a historical plaque for the cemetery in 1949 and then a wall at the entrance of the cemetery in 1954.

The Buckman and Ulmer Building was a historic building in Jacksonville, Florida. It was built in 1925 by Jacksonville architects Marsh & Saxelbye for the Buckman and Ulmer Real Estate Company. It was located at 29-33 West Monroe Street. On December 30, 1992, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was later demolished to construct the current Jacksonville Main Library.

Duval County is in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 995,567, up from 864,263 in 2010. Its county seat is Jacksonville, Florida, with which the Duval County government has been consolidated since 1968. Duval County was established in 1822, and is named for William Pope Duval, Governor of Florida Territory from 1822 to 1834. Duval County is the central county of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
