National Archives of Tunisia

The National Library of Tunisia (Arabic: المكتبة الوطنية التونسية) is the legal deposit and copyright library for Tunisia. It was founded in 1885, then known as the French Library, and then the People's library. The Tunisian government assigned a budget of 28 million Dinars for a new building for the library, and in 2005 the library was relocated.The library is 70m tall and it is composed of 14 floors it is one of the tallest buildings in Tunisia and one of the most famous Islamic style building in Tunisia

The Habsburg Empire of Charles V and its allies conquered Tunis in 1535, wresting the city away from the control of the Ottoman Empire.

Sidi Bou Hadid Mosque (Arabic: جامع سيدي بو حديد), also known as the Sidi Amor small mosque is a Tunisian mosque located in the north of the medina of Tunis.

Sadiki College, also known as Collège Sadiki (Tunisian Arabic: المدرسة الصادقية, "El-Sadqiya High School"), is a lycée (high school) in Tunis, Tunisia. It was established in 1875. Associations formed by its alumni played a major role in the early constitutionalist movement in the country.Noted alumni include ex-President Habib Bourguiba, politicians Mohamed Mzali, Mustapha Ben Jafar and Azzedine Guellouz. Another alumnus was the creative writer Mahmoud Messadi.Sadiki historically has provided a bicultural, bilingual education. Many of the Tunisian elites, including Bourguiba, graduated from this school. These elites filled the positions of top responsibility of the Destour party. Charles A. Micaud of The Western Political Quarterly said "[i]ts realistic strategy of struggle against colonialism became convincing even to Zitūna students, many of whom came to form the medium and lower cadres of the party." The graduates of Sadiki placed a bilingual education system in Tunisia after its independence.

The Battle of the Bagradas River (the ancient name of the Medjerda), also known as the Battle of Tunis, was a victory by a Carthaginian army led by Xanthippus over a Roman army led by Marcus Atilius Regulus in the spring of 255 BC, nine years into the First Punic War. The previous year, the newly constructed Roman navy established naval superiority over Carthage. The Romans used this advantage to invade Carthage's homeland, which roughly aligned with modern-day Tunisia in North Africa. After landing on the Cape Bon Peninsula and conducting a successful campaign, the fleet returned to Sicily, leaving Regulus with 15,500 men to hold the lodgement in Africa over the winter. Instead of holding his position, Regulus advanced towards the city of Carthage and defeated the Carthaginian army at the Battle of Adys. The Romans followed up and captured Tunis, only 16 kilometres (10 mi) from Carthage. Despairing, the Carthaginians sued for peace, but Regulus's proposed terms were so harsh the Carthaginians decided to fight on. They gave charge of the training of their army, and eventually operational control, to the Spartan mercenary general Xanthippus. In the spring of 255 BC, Xanthippus led an army strong in cavalry and elephants against the Romans' infantry-based force. The Romans had no effective answer to the elephants. Their outnumbered cavalry were chased from the field and the Carthaginian cavalry then surrounded most of the Romans and wiped them out; 500 survived and were captured, including Regulus. A force of 2,000 Romans avoided being surrounded and retreated to Aspis. The war continued for another 14 years, mostly on Sicily or in nearby waters, before ending with a Roman victory; the terms offered to Carthage were more generous than those proposed by Regulus.

The National Monument of the Kasbah (Arabic: المعلم الوطني بساحة القصبة), more simply called the National Monument, is a memorial monument and a prominent symbol of several events in Tunisia. It is located in the center of the Kasbah Square in Tunis, facing the Town Hall.The monument was designed and executed by the Tunisian sculptor Abdelfattah Boussetta In 1989.It also appears as a background image on the Tunisian ID cards.

Laz Mosque (Arabic: جامع لاز) is a small mosque in the west of the medina of Tunis.

Melmli Mosque (Arabic: جامع الململي), is a Tunisian mosque located in the north of the medina of Tunis.

Dar Lasram is one of the palaces of the medina of Tunis. It is located at 24 Tribunal Street.

Ramadan Bey Square (Arabic: ساحة أو بطحاء رمضان باي) is one of the squares in the medina of Tunis. It was named after Ramadan Bey (or Romdhane Bey), a sovereign from the Muradid dynasty.

Kasbah Mosque (Arabic: جامع القصبة ; French: Mosquée de la Casbah) is a mosque in Tunis, Tunisia. It is a listed as a Historical Monument.

Dar Al Jaziri (Arabic: دار الجزيري) is a palace in the medina of Tunis. Located in the Tribunal Street, a few meters from Dar Lasram, it was one of the residences of the Jaziri family between the 12th and 18th centuries. In 1937, it housed the second Neo Destour congress. Listed as an historical building in 1992, it is nowadays the seat of the House of Poetry. Near the palace stands the family mausoleum known as Tourbet Al Jaziri, its door opening in front of Dar Lasram.
