FSC Millport

The Cathedral of the Isles and Collegiate Church of the Holy Spirit is a Category A listed cathedral of the Scottish Episcopal Church in the town of Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae. It is one of the two cathedrals of the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles, the other being St John's Cathedral in Oban. From 2021 the office of Provost has been held by Keith Riglin, Bishop of Argyll and The Isles.

The Eileans are two small, low-lying islands located in Newtown Bay, Millport on the island of Great Cumbrae, Scotland. (grid reference NS164545). The name is an anglicisation of the Scottish Gaelic, eilean meaning "island". Unusually for the west coast of Scotland, the two islands appear to have no individual names of their own and as such are always referred to collectively. The islands were mined for stone in the Victorian times, during the busy expansion of Millport. Today the islands are home to a small colony of harbour seals. Three smaller rocks, the Leug (possibly Gaelic: gemstone), the Spoig (Gaelic: paw) and the Clach (Gaelic: stone) lie to the west.

Lady Margaret Hospital is a small 10-bedded hospital at Millport on Great Cumbrae in North Ayrshire, Scotland. It is managed by NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

Millport Town Hall is a municipal building in Clifton Street, Millport, North Ayrshire, Scotland. The structure is used as a community events centre.

Millport (Scottish Gaelic: Port a' Mhuilinn) is the only town on the island of Great Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde off the coast of mainland Scotland, in the council area of North Ayrshire. The town is 4 miles (6 km) south of the ferry terminal that links the island to the Scottish mainland. Due to its small size, the island and its town are often linked in the minds of visitors and residents and Cumbrae is often referred to as Millport. The island offers views across to the Isle of Arran as well as of its smaller neighbour which lies barely a kilometre away, called Little Cumbrae. The Cumbraes are referred to as the Kumreyiar in the medieval Norse Saga of Haakon Haakonarson.

Great Cumbrae (Scots: Muckle Cumbrae; Scottish Gaelic: Cumaradh Mòr; also known as Great Cumbrae Island, Cumbrae or the Isle of Cumbrae) is the larger of the two islands known as The Cumbraes in the lower Firth of Clyde in western Scotland. The island is sometimes called Millport, after its main town. Home to the Cathedral of The Isles and the FSC Millport field study centre, the island has a community of 1,300 residents.

Hunterston A nuclear power station is a former Magnox nuclear power station located at Hunterston in Ayrshire, Scotland, adjacent to Hunterston B. The ongoing decommissioning process is being managed by Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) subsidiary Magnox Ltd.

Hunterston B nuclear power station is a shut-down AGR nuclear power station in North Ayrshire, Scotland. Located about 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Largs and about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) northwest of West Kilbride on the Firth of Clyde coast. It is currently operated by EDF Energy, and began producing electricity in 1976. The station ceased generation on 7 January 2022. On 19 May 2022, EDF announced that defueling was started on the two Hunterston B units. This process is expected to take over three years to complete, and it involves the complete emptying of all fuel channels from both reactors. This amounts to over 300 channels from each reactor, each containing 8 fuel elements. Fully loaded flasks containing the used fuel are scheduled to be dispatched from the site by rail to Sellafield at a maximum rate of three per week.Hunterston B is similar in design to sister station Hinkley Point B, which ceased operations in August 2022.

The Holy Cave at Hunterston in the Parish of West Kilbride is associated with Saint Mungo, also known as St Kentigern and is often referred to as the Hawking Craig Cave however two caves exists in the Hawking Craig Wood and 'Three Sisters' area of the cliffs, the other being Smith's Cave, better described as a rock shelter lying a short distance to the south. The main cave has been excavated and the finds indicate three periods of occupation over many centuries.

Hunterston, by the Firth of Clyde, is a coastal area in Ayrshire, Scotland. It is the seat and estate of the Hunter family. As an area of flat land adjacent to deep natural water, it has been the site of considerable actual and proposed industrial development in the 20th century. The nearest town is West Kilbride. The Hunterston Brooch was found there. Actual or proposed developments on this site have included: Hunterston A nuclear power station, the closed Magnox power station Hunterston B nuclear power station, the Advanced gas-cooled reactor power station Western HVDC Link, the 2.2 GW undersea power cable to Flintshire Bridge, North Wales Hunterston Terminal, the deep-water ore terminal and associated railhead built by British Steel A construction yard, used to build oil platforms between 1978 and 1983, a Trident dry dock between 1988 and 1993 and a Gravity base Tank between 1993 and 1996 A proposed Oil Refinery by Chevron in 1969 and 1973 An integrated direct-reduction steel blast furnace proposed by British Steel Corporation. This was unused as its gas and fuel requirements were too great. The plant was moved to Mobile, Alabama, in 1998. A "clean coal" power station has been proposed for the site. Peel Energy is the main partner in the proposal. However, the plan was said to have "collapsed" in 2009 after £2 billion of financial backing from DONG Energy was withdrawn.

Goldenberry Hill is a hill in North Ayrshire, Scotland, near West Kilbride. It is a popular spot for walks and is visited regularly. It is 140 metres (460 ft) high and has a prominence of 120 metres (390 ft), thus being categorised as a TuMP and HuMP.The hill can be accessed from the north up a footpath that runs along the back of Hunterston Nuclear Plant or from the south up EE Communications Road. The view from the top provides 360 degrees panoramic scenery across to Arran, Little and Great Cumbrae and across the firth of Clyde as well as a vantage point for seeing West Kilbride and Fairlie, North Ayrshire.There is a Trig point within 4m of the summit as well as a slightly lower cairn and an EE phone mast.The hill is listed by Canmore, but archaeological reports are inconclusive.
