Dixon High School (California)

Dixon is a city in northern Solano County, California, United States, located 23 miles (37 km) from the state capital, Sacramento. It has a hot-summer mediterranean climate on the Köppen climate classification scale. Its population was 18,988 at the 2020 census. Other nearby cities include Vacaville, Winters, Davis, Woodland, and Rio Vista.

Milk Farm Restaurant was a restaurant in Dixon, California off I-80, that played a big part in Dixon's dairy economy during World War II. It was considered to be the city's landmark.

Batavia is an unincorporated community in Solano County, California, United States. Batavia is along a railroad line 3.5 miles (5.6 km) southwest of Dixon. It was a California Pacific Railroad station that was named around 1870 for the Latin name of The Netherlands.Batavia reportedly was platted in 1868 and had several streets laid out, but it primarily consisted of a train depot and a few residences. The warehouses were destroyed in a fire in 1917. Batavia declined after highway travel largely replaced rail travel.

Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is a 561 acres (227 ha) United States National Cemetery located about 3 miles (4.8 km) southwest of Dixon, Solano County, California. The cemetery is intersected by the Union Pacific Railroad in the southeast of the cemetery. Opened for burials in 2006 with an initial 14 acres (5.7 ha) development, the Department of Veterans Affairs intends this site to serve needs for the next 50 years. The cemetery is the seventh national cemetery built in the state, and the 124th national cemetery built in the U.S.

Dixon Naval Radio Transmitter Facility is a facility of the US Navy in Dixon, California, United States for military radio transmissions in the shortwave and VLF range. The facility, which covers an area of 1314 acres, was operated continuously by the US Navy until 1979, when it was converted to a contractor-operated facility. The tallest structure of the facility are two VLF-transmission masts, each 194.16 metres ( 637 ft) tall, situated at 38°21′54″N 121°46′30″W and 38°22′27″N 121°46′57″W. Until the end of the 1990s, the station was controlled by the Naval Communications Station, Stockton, California. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station San Diego has oversight of operations via contract.

It is free to visit and the gardens are open 24 hours a day every day of the year; visitor parking is free Saturdays and Sundays and $10 per car every other day. The Arboretum contains 3.5 miles (5.6 km) paved path loop for pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists. The collection includes some "22,000 trees and plants adapted to a Mediterranean climate." The collection may be searched through the Arbortetum's online database, which includes detailed information about the plants and geographic information system data linked to plant records. The Arboretum is an important source of information on horticulture in California's Central Valley.The arboretum is used for research both by UC Davis faculty and students and by others. The arboretum also supports teaching at UC Davis, with courses in many different disciplines using the arboretum each year.
