Elphinstone Tower (East Lothian)

Elphinstone is a village in East Lothian, Scotland. It lies 1.6 miles (2.6 km) south-west of Tranent on the B6414, and 1.24 miles (2.00 km) north-west of Ormiston.

Fa'side Castle (Faside Estate) has previously been known as Fawside, Falside, Ffauside, Fauxside, or Fawsyde and is a 15th-century keep located in East Lothian in Scotland. The castle is approximately 2 miles (3 kilometres) southwest of Tranent, and 2 mi (3 km) southeast of Musselburgh. The building was restored in the 1980s and is now protected as a category B listed building.

Elphinstone Research Centre is a medical research centre, part of the Charles River Laboratories, east of Edinburgh, south of Tranent, in East Lothian. In the 1970s, it was the site of Inveresk Research International. Inveresk had been founded in 1957 and was situated in the former offices of the Institute of Seaweed Research. It is situated to the south of Tranent, between the B6414 and B6371, north-east of Elphinstone. The site employs around 1300 people.

Ormiston Primrose Football Club is a senior football club based in Ormiston, East Lothian, currently competing in the East of Scotland League Second Division. The club was founded in 1890 and amalgamated with former East of Scotland League team Pencaitland in 1999. Ormiston play their home matches at New Recreation Park, which was completed in 2018 (along with a new changing pavilion) as a replacement to the old Recreation Park which stood on adjacent land and closed a year earlier. In the intervening period, the club used the Hibernian Training Centre located a short distance to the north of Ormiston. An official partnership with professionals Hibernian had already been arranged in 2014 to strengthen the Edinburgh club's presence in the local area and give Ormiston some practical assistance.

Ross High School is a large secondary school in Tranent, East Lothian. As of April 2021, the school roll was 1,259 (2021) making it the largest secondary school in East Lothian by pupil roll. The school was founded in 1954 and named after George Ross, who was convener of the local council at the time. The current head teacher is Paul Reynolds.

Ormiston is a village in East Lothian, Scotland, near Tranent, Humbie, Pencaitland and Cranston, located on the north bank of the River Tyne at an elevation of about 276 feet (84 m). The village was the first planned village in Scotland, founded in 1735 by John Cockburn (1685–1758), one of the initiators of the Agricultural Revolution.

In September 2013 they re-branded as Radio Saltire and moved to Tranent, East Lothian.In July 2023, they started to broadcast on DAB.
