Ormiston Primrose F.C.

Ormiston is a village in East Lothian, Scotland, near Tranent, Humbie, Pencaitland and Cranston, located on the north bank of the River Tyne at an elevation of about 276 feet (84 m). The village was the first planned village in Scotland, founded in 1735 by John Cockburn (1685–1758), one of the initiators of the Agricultural Revolution.

Ormiston Castle is a ruined 16th-century tower house, about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Dalkeith, East Lothian, Scotland, and north of Ormiston Mains.It was formerly known as the "House of Ormiston" and is known alternatively as Old Ormiston.There was also a tower house called Ormiston near Innerleithen, and one called Ormiston Tower near Kelso, both in Scottish Borders.

Elphinstone Research Centre is a medical research centre, part of the Charles River Laboratories, east of Edinburgh, south of Tranent, in East Lothian. In the 1970s, it was the site of Inveresk Research International. Inveresk had been founded in 1957 and was situated in the former offices of the Institute of Seaweed Research. It is situated to the south of Tranent, between the B6414 and B6371, north-east of Elphinstone. The site employs around 1300 people.

Preston Hall, or Prestonhall, is a late-18th-century mansion in Midlothian, to the south of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is located 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) north of Pathhead on the east side of the Tyne Water, opposite Oxenfoord Castle on the west side. The house, together with several estate buildings, are the work of architect Robert Mitchell (fl. 1770–1809), and are protected as Category A listed buildings, the highest level of protection for a historic building in Scotland.

Ross High School is a large secondary school in Tranent, East Lothian. As of April 2021, the school roll was 1,259 (2021) making it the largest secondary school in East Lothian by pupil roll. The school was founded in 1954 and named after George Ross, who was convener of the local council at the time. The current head teacher is Paul Reynolds.

Radio Saltire is a community radio station based in Tranent, Scotland, broadcasting primarily to East Lothian on 106.7 & 107.2 FM, DAB and online.The station was originally founded as East Lothian FM. In September 2013 they re-branded as Radio Saltire and moved to Tranent, East Lothian.In July 2023, they started to broadcast on DAB.
