Coventry is a town in Kent County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 35,688 at the 2020 census and is part of the Pawtuxet River Valley .

The Read School is a historic schoolhouse at 1670 Flat River Road in Coventry, Rhode Island, USA. Built c. 1831, it is one of the oldest, and the best-preserved, of Coventry's 19th-century schoolhouses. It is a rectangular wood-frame structure measuring 18 feet (5.5 m) by 24 feet (7.3 m), with a gable roof. The south side, its main facade, has a pair of doors under a ten-light transom window and a shallow entry cover. Above this is a round window, a detail echoed on the north side. It served the town as a school until 1951, and was then used for storage. It is now leased by the town to the Coventry Historical Society, who conduct tours and hold meetings there.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Joseph Briggs House, also known as the Coventry Town Farm, is a historic house in Coventry, Rhode Island. The main block of the house, a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, was built c. 1790 by Joseph Briggs, and the property was purchased from his heirs in 1851 by the town for use as a poor farm. The town added a two-story ell to the rear of the house to provide additional housing space. The property is one of the few such poor farms to remain relatively intact. The farm was closed in the 1930s, after which the property fell into decline. It has since been rehabilitated as a two-family residence.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Coventry High School is a public high school located in Coventry, Rhode Island. Servicing grades Nine through Twelve, it has close to 1600 students, and is the only public high school in Coventry, Rhode Island. According to the latest report from Public School Review, the school is 40% male and 60% female. In terms of ethnicity, Coventry High School is 97% Caucasian, 1% Asian, 1% African-American, and 1% Hispanic. Coventry High School is located off of Route 3, at 40 Reservoir Road.

WWRI-LP is an FM radio station broadcasting on 95.1 MHz, licensed to Coventry, Rhode Island. The WWRI-LP license is owned by Arsan Broadcasting Foundation. The station has been off the air and silent since October 1, 2020 at 5:30 p.m., when its programming moved to WPVD. Prior to leaving the air, WWRI-LP had broadcast a classic rock format. The station began broadcasting February 9, 2016. WWRI-LP was managed by Chris DiPaola, owner of WBLQ (1230) and manager of WSUB-LP ("96.7 the Buzz") in Westerly, Rhode Island. WWRI-LP had local community members on air each day, such as John Parente, Johnny Mac & more. Long-time radio DJ Kickin' Al was the afternoon drive host from 2016 to 2019. January 2020 marked the start of the station's local community morning show, "Mac & Boots In The Morning", hosted by Johnny Mac & John Botello.

Coventry Centre is a historic village in Coventry, Rhode Island. The village was founded in 1809 and was originally called "Shoethread." The village was renamed Coventry Centre because it is the geographic center of the town. In the 18th century Bog iron was mined in Maroon Swamp (named after the color of the iron deposits), an area now known as Stump Pond. The area also contains Foster Ledge Quarry from which granite was transported by the Hartford Fishkill Railroad and used in various buildings across the state.

The county was formed in 1750 from the southern third of Providence County. It was named after the county of Kent, England. Kent County, like other counties in Rhode Island, no longer has governmental functions (other than as court administrative and sheriff corrections boundaries). Its seat is East Greenwich. Kent County is included in the Providence-Warwick, RI-MA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which in turn constitutes a portion of the greater Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA-RI-NH-CT Combined Statistical Area.

The South Branch Pawtuxet River is a river in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It flows approximately 9.8 miles (15.8 km). There are 11 dams along the river's length.

Spring Lake is a village in the town of Coventry, Rhode Island.The Johnson family were early owners of the land in the area, and in 1818 sold the property to Ezra Ramsdell to build a warp thread mill along the Spring Lake River (Mishnock River). Mill housing was constructed along the highway from Washington Village to the Maple Root Meeting House. After the mill burned in 1830, Christopher A. Whitman acquired the land and constructed a mill known as Whitmans’ Yard, which produced shirting material. In 1852, Whitman leased the complex to Pardon Olney; it operated for another thirty years. In 1865, the Peckham family bought the mill, and ran it until it burned around 1907. Today, the area where the mill village once stood is populated with private businesses.

The South Main Street Historic District is a historic district in Coventry, Rhode Island. It extends along South Main Street from its crossing of the South Branch of the Pawtuxet River in the north, to just below Wood Street in the south, and includes a few properties on immediately adjacent streets. The area is almost entire residential, and was developed in the 19th century, providing housing for middle-class workers not directly affiliated with the mills that lined the river. About half the houses were built before 1850, and exhibit either Federal or Greek Revival styling, while most of the remaining houses were built before 1920. The principal non-residential structures are a VFW hall, which began as a mid-19th century residential structure associated with Rhode Island's prominent Whipple family, the Stillwater Company mill at the northern end of the district (1914), and the three-room Cady Street Schoolhouse (1844).The area was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
