Mishnock River

Kent County is a county located in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. As of the 2020 census, the population was 170,363, making it the second-most populous county in Rhode Island. The county was formed in 1750 from the southern third of Providence County. It was named after the county of Kent, England. Kent County, like other counties in Rhode Island, no longer has governmental functions (other than as court administrative and sheriff corrections boundaries). Its seat is East Greenwich. Kent County is included in the Providence-Warwick, RI-MA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which in turn constitutes a portion of the greater Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA-RI-NH-CT Combined Statistical Area.

Spring Lake is a village in the town of Coventry, Rhode Island.The Johnson family were early owners of the land in the area, and in 1818 sold the property to Ezra Ramsdell to build a warp thread mill along the Spring Lake River (Mishnock River). Mill housing was constructed along the highway from Washington Village to the Maple Root Meeting House. After the mill burned in 1830, Christopher A. Whitman acquired the land and constructed a mill known as Whitmans’ Yard, which produced shirting material. In 1852, Whitman leased the complex to Pardon Olney; it operated for another thirty years. In 1865, the Peckham family bought the mill, and ran it until it burned around 1907. Today, the area where the mill village once stood is populated with private businesses.

Coventry High School is a public high school located in Coventry, Rhode Island. Servicing grades Nine through Twelve, it has close to 1600 students, and is the only public high school in Coventry, Rhode Island. According to the latest report from Public School Review, the school is 40% male and 60% female. In terms of ethnicity, Coventry High School is 97% Caucasian, 1% Asian, 1% African-American, and 1% Hispanic. Coventry High School is located off of Route 3, at 40 Reservoir Road.

The South Branch Pawtuxet River is a river in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It flows approximately 9.8 miles (15.8 km). There are 11 dams along the river's length.

Lake Mishnock is a residential recreational lake in West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island. It lies immediately north of I-95.

The South Main Street Historic District is a historic district in Coventry, Rhode Island. It extends along South Main Street from its crossing of the South Branch of the Pawtuxet River in the north, to just below Wood Street in the south, and includes a few properties on immediately adjacent streets. The area is almost entire residential, and was developed in the 19th century, providing housing for middle-class workers not directly affiliated with the mills that lined the river. About half the houses were built before 1850, and exhibit either Federal or Greek Revival styling, while most of the remaining houses were built before 1920. The principal non-residential structures are a VFW hall, which began as a mid-19th century residential structure associated with Rhode Island's prominent Whipple family, the Stillwater Company mill at the northern end of the district (1914), and the three-room Cady Street Schoolhouse (1844).The area was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The U.S. State of Rhode Island currently has two statistical areas that have been delineated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). On March 6, 2020, the OMB delineated the Providence-Warwick, RI-MA Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA-RI-NH-CT Combined Statistical Area. All five counties of Rhode Island are a part of both the Providence-Warwick, RI-MA Metropolitan Statistical Area and the more extensive Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA-RI-NH-CT Combined Statistical Area.

The Paine House Museum is an historic house at 7 Station Street in the village of Washington in the town Coventry, Rhode Island. The oldest portion of this large 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house may have been built as early as 1691 by Samuel Bennett, who was known to operate a sawmill on the nearby Pawtuxet River. The house was significantly enlarged c. 1748 by Francis Brayton. His son, Francis Jr., was granted a license to operate a tavern on the premises in 1785. The property was acquired by the Paine family in 1866, whose descendants gave it to the Western Rhode Island Civic Historical Society in 1953.The house has been furnished to reflect the Colonial era, and is now operated by the society as a historic house museum. Visitation is from May through September on Saturdays. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Tiogue (formerly Barclay or Pleasant Vale) is a village in Coventry, Rhode Island near the village of Washington. Fones Potter (1759-1833), an American Revolution veteran, started a textile mill in the area, which was originally named Pleasant Vale. The Potters named it "Barclay" after the eighteenth-century Scottish Quaker Minister and Writer, Robert Barclay. Potter sold the mill and water rights to Jabez Anthony and Perez Peck who founded the Rope Walk, a manufacturer of anchor rope, twine, and cotton banding and built a long rope twisting building on a stream flowing from the Tiogue Reservoir in the area bordered by Holmes Road, Lydia Road, York Drive, and Arnold Road. Anthony's son and grandson continued the business after his death. By the late nineteenth century the mill closed and a summer colony developed around Lake Tiogue, which has largely altered the village and the only two nineteenth century buildings that remain are the William H. Anthony House located on Holmes Road and the Samuel Tarbox House located on Arnold Road.
