The Diocese of Tortosa (Latin: Dioecesis Dertosensis) is a Latin church diocese of the Catholic Church covering the south of Catalonia and the north of the Valencian Community. It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Tarragona.

The Taifa of Tortosa (Arabic: طائفة طرطوشة) was a medieval Islamic taifa kingdom. It existed for two separate periods, from 1010 to 1060 and 1081 to 1099. It was founded by the Slavic warlord Labib al-Fata al-Saqlabi.

The siege of Tortosa was a siege of the city of Tortosa (then in the Principality of Catalonia) from 12 June to 8 July 1708 during the War of the Spanish Succession. It pitched a Franco-Spanish force of 28,000 under the Duke of Orleans and Antoni de Villarroel against a combined Catalan and British force of 5,140 infantry and 70 cavalry under Ignasi Minguella, Francesc Montagut and general Jones. It ended in the Franco-Spanish force conclusively taking the town and as a result ending the occupation of Valencia.

The C-12 is a highway in Catalonia, Spain, that connects Lleida with Tortosa and the Ebre river delta. For much of its length it runs along the lower Ebre valley. North of Lleida the road follows the Noguera valley before joining the C-13. Autovia C-12 cuts across the westernmost end of the Cardó Massif, above the final Ebro Gorges. This highway is also known as the Eix de l'Ebre (Ebro Axis).

Aldover (Catalan pronunciation: [aldoˈβe]) is a municipality in the comarca of Baix Ebre, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. It has a population of 880 (register office, 2024) . There was a RENFE railway line from Tortosa to Alcañiz and Zaragoza that used to pass through this town until 1973. This line was dismantled as a result of a 1962 World Bank report advising the Spanish State to concentrate investment in the great lines and to abandon the less profitable railways connecting rural areas. Since the line was terminated, the rails were pulled off and the Aldover train station buildings lie abandoned.

L'Aldea (Catalan pronunciation: [lalˈdea]) is a municipality in the comarca of the Baix Ebre in Catalonia, Spain. It was created in 1983 from parts of the municipality of Tortosa. It has a population of 4,471 (register office, 2024) . It is situated on the left bank of the Ebre at the start of the delta. The town is served by the A-7 autopista and the N-340 road, and has a station on the RENFE railway line between Tarragona and Valencia.

Amposta (Catalan pronunciation: [amˈpɔsta]) is the capital of the comarca of Montsià, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain, 190 km south of Barcelona on the Mediterranean Coast. It is located at 8 metres above sea level, on the Ebre river, not far from its mouth. It has a population of 22,637 (register office, 2024) . The GR 92 long distance footpath, which roughly follows the length of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, has a staging point at Amposta. Stage 30 links northwards to L'Ampolla, a distance of 16.3 kilometres (10.1 mi), whilst stage 31 links southwards to the Pont de l'Olivar, a distance of 25.4 kilometres (15.8 mi).

Camarles (Catalan pronunciation: [kaˈmaɾles]) is a municipality in the comarca of the Baix Ebre, Catalonia, Spain. Established in 1978 from parts of Tortosa municipality, it lies in the eastern part of the comarca, near the Ebre delta’s headwaters. It has a population of 3,392 (register office, 2024) . The town is accessed via the N-340 road, which connects to Tortosa and links to the AP-7 autopista through l'Aldea to the south or l'Ampolla to the north.

Botanical Garden Ecoherbes Park is a botanical garden of medicinal plants located in the town of L'Ampolla known as "Porta del Delta de l'Ebre" because of its proximity to the Ebro Delta in the region of Baix Ebre, an area declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO.
