The Ancient House, Peasenhall

Peasenhall is a village and civil parish in the East Suffolk district, in the English county of Suffolk. The population of the civil parish at the 2021 Census was 525. It lies on the A1120 tourist route; neighbouring villages include Sibton and Badingham. It was the location of the Peasenhall Murder.

The Abbey of Bruisyard was a house of Minoresses (Poor Clares) at Bruisyard in Suffolk. It was founded from Campsey Priory in Suffolk on the initiative of Maud of Lancaster, Countess of Ulster, assisted by her son-in-law Lionel of Antwerp, in 1364–1366.The foundation of a religious house at Rokes Hall in Bruisyard began a little earlier, when a small college of secular priests (four chaplains and a master, or warden) attached to Campsey Priory for the purposes of a chantry, established in 1346–1347, was moved to Bruisyard in 1354 to celebrate there in a new chapel of the Annunciation to the Virgin. At that time a full set of statutes was promulgated by Maud of Lancaster.It was following the death of her daughter Elizabeth de Burgh, 4th Countess of Ulster in 1363 that Lionel of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence assisted in the refoundation of the house as a nunnery of the Order of St Clare, and at that time Maud of Lancaster, who had become a canoness at Campsey, transferred to the Poor Clares and spent her last years at Bruisyard. She and her daughter Maud de Ufford were buried there.The house was suppressed on 17 February 1539, as part of the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

The village had a population of around 175 at the 2011 census.Bruisyard's name appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Buresiart. The name is believed to be derived from the Anglo-Saxon term, gebūres geard, meaning "peasant's yard or enclosure".

Sweffling is a village and a civil parish in the East Suffolk district, in the county of Suffolk, England. Nearby settlements include the town of Saxmundham and the village of Rendham. The medieval church of St Mary the Virgin, restored in 1832, is a grade II* listed building.

Blyth Rural District was a rural district in East Suffolk, England, between 1934 and 1974. The rural district was formed by the merger of parts of Blything Rural District and Plomesgate Rural District with a small parts of Hoxne Rural District, all of which were being abolished. It covered a coastal area north of Aldeburgh and inland parishes around Saxmundham, although both those towns were excluded from the district. Shortly after the district's creation the council built itself an office on Rendham Road in Saxmundham, holding its first meeting in the new building (later known as Blyth House) in April 1935.The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and became part of Suffolk Coastal district.

SET Saxmundham School (formerly Saxmundham Free School) is a free school in Saxmundham, Suffolk, East Anglia, with approximately 309 pupils. It was rated "good" by Ofsted in May 2014. In March 2018 Ofsted carried out a short inspection of the school where it maintained its "good" rating. It opened in 2012 with 105 pupils out of a total of 312 places available. The school now has 600 places available. In June 2023 the Seckford Education Trust announced it would be closing the school in August 2024.

Saxmundham ( saks-MUN-dəm) is a market town in Suffolk, England, set in the valley of the River Fromus about 18 miles (29 km) north-east of Ipswich and 5 miles (8 km) west of the coast at Sizewell. The town is bypassed by the main A12 road between London and Lowestoft. The town is served by Saxmundham railway station on the East Suffolk Line between Ipswich and Lowestoft.

The Norwich Crag Formation is a stratigraphic unit of the British Pleistocene Epoch. It is the second youngest unit of the Crag Group, a sequence of four geological formations spanning the Pliocene to Lower Pleistocene transition in East Anglia. It was deposited between approximately 2.4 and 1.8 million years ago, during the Gelasian Stage. The Norwich Crag is a marginal facies of the thicker, much better developed sedimentary sequence in the southern North Sea basin. It outcrops in the eastern half of the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, and is also represented in Essex and Hertfordshire. It was deposited in a near-shore environment, and comprises a range of sands, silty clays and flint-rich gravels representing various transgressive and regressive marine episodes. It rests in some places on the Red Crag Formation and in others unconformably on Coralline Crag, Palaeogene formations and Chalk Group bedrock. It is overlain by the Wroxham Crag Formation, and unconformably by the Kesgrave Catchment Subgroup (part of the Dunwich Group) and Mid Pleistocene glacigenic deposits. Norwich Crag fossil fauna and flora have been studied since the 19th century for information about environmental conditions during the early Pleistocene. They provide evidence for a general climatic cooling trend from the Pliocene to the Pleistocene.

Cransford is a village and a civil parish in the East Suffolk district, in the English county of Suffolk. The civil parish had a population at the 2011 census of 162.It is near the small town of Framlingham. Cransford has two places of worship. The mediaeval parish church of St Peter was restored in 1864 and 1874 and is a Grade II* listed building.

Benhall is a village and civil parish in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. Located to the south of Saxmundham, in 2007 its population was estimated to be 560, reducing to 521 at the 2011 Census.
