Pontprennau and Old St Mellons (Welsh: Pontprennau a Phentref Llaneirwg) is an electoral ward in Cardiff, Wales. Covering the communities of Old St Mellons and Pontprennau, it is represented by two councillors on Cardiff Council.

Vaendre Hall (or Faendre Hall) is a large detached house in the Cardiff suburb of St Mellons. Set in four acres (1.6 ha) of grounds, it is bordered on three sides by St Mellons golf course. It was developed by the shipowner and industrialist John Cory in the mid 19th century in the Jacobethan style after William Burn from a farm and renamed Faendre Hall. It was completed in 1850. Cory hosted the politicians Henry Labouchère and George Robinson, 1st Marquess of Ripon, the former Viceroy of India, on their visits to Cardiff and Newport in 1887 and 1888 respectively. It was subsequently owned by sportsman and brewer William Brain (of Brains Brewery), and Liberal Party politician Richard Mathias, who was appointed a baronet of Vaendre Hall in June 1917. The house has a separate stable and entrance lodge.The hall and its 18 acres of land were sold for £7,000 at an auction in July 1893 to Dr. Hughes (equivalent to £790,000 in 2019). The farm adjoining the hall with two paddocks of land, a three stalled stable, wagon house, granary, two cattle sheds, poultry house, and a four roomed cottage was sold at the same sale for £1,150 to Mr. Richard Davies (equivalent to £130,000 in 2019).Vaendre Hall was put on sale in 2013 and 2018 for £2 million; it was subsequently reduced in 2020 to £1.65 million. It was listed as having seven bedrooms and five reception rooms with a billiard hall.Scenes from the 2014 Doctor Who Christmas special, Last Christmas, starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, were filmed at the house.The house has been listed Grade II since June 1977. In addition to the main hall the lodge and entrance gateway, the former stable block, and a circular garden seat in the grounds are all separately listed Grade II.The GWR 4900 Class railway locomotive Faendre Hall was built in 1935 and named after the house.

Marshfield railway station was a former station on the South Wales Main Line which served Marshfield, Newport, in South Wales.

South East Wales is a loosely defined region of Wales generally corresponding to the preserved counties of Mid Glamorgan, South Glamorgan and Gwent. Highly urbanised, it includes the cities of Cardiff and Newport as well as large towns in the South Wales Valleys.

Peterstone or Peterstone Wentlooge (Welsh: Llanbedr Gwynllŵg) is a small village to the south west of the city of Newport, South Wales.

The Church of St Peter is the former parish church of the village of Peterstone, to the south west of the city of Newport, south Wales. Perpendicular in style, and dating from the fifteenth century, the church underwent two significant restorations, the first following the Great Flood in the early seventeenth century and then in the late nineteenth century. Described by the architectural historian John Newman as "the noblest and most beautiful Perpendicular church in the whole county", the building was listed Grade I on 3 January 1963.

St Mellons (Welsh: Llaneirwg) is a district and suburb of eastern Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. Prior to 1996 St Mellons was the name given to the community largely north of Newport Road (B4487) which included the old St Mellons village. After 1996 the old community was divided and renamed as Old St Mellons and Pontprennau, with the newer, much larger area of modern housing and business parks to the south of Newport Road retaining the St Mellons name. Historically in Monmouthshire, St Mellons became part of South Glamorgan and Cardiff in 1974.

Seren Stiwdios (formerly Pinewood Studio Wales) is a Welsh film and television studio in Cardiff, Wales. Founded in 2015, the studio complex was operated by the Pinewood Group until March 2020 when the company terminated its agreement with the Welsh government to manage the facility. It is currently leased and managed by Great Point Media.

The Cardiff Capital Region (CCR; Welsh: Prifddinas Ranbarth Caerdydd) is a city region in Wales, centred on the capital city of Wales, Cardiff, in the southeast of the country. The regional city deal is funded by the UK Government and Welsh Government. The Cardiff Capital Region includes the cities of Cardiff and Newport, and most of the South Wales Valleys, with the region being coterminous with the area defined as South East Wales.

Coleg Glan Hafren, formerly Rumney College (and before that Rumney College of Technology), was a Further Education college based in Cardiff which merged with Barry College in September 2011 to form the new Cardiff and Vale College.

Trowbridge is a district, community and coterminous electoral ward on the eastern edge of the city of Cardiff, capital of Wales. The community and electoral ward includes some or all of the areas of the St Mellons estate and Trowbridge, as well as part of the Wentlooge Levels between the mainline railway and the coast. It is bounded by the village of Old St Mellons to the north; Marshfield (in Newport principal area) to the east; and Splott and Rumney to the west.
