St Peter's Church, Wentlooge

Peterstone or Peterstone Wentlooge (Welsh: Llanbedr Gwynllŵg) is a small village to the south west of the city of Newport, South Wales.

Marshfield railway station was a former station on the South Wales Main Line which served Marshfield, Newport, in South Wales.

Peterstone Gout is a tidal flap controlling the outfall to the sea near Peterstone Wentlooge, Newport, south Wales. It is located several miles up the coast from Cardiff in the estuary of the River Usk. It is the main drainage point from the Wentloog Levels into the sea. The area is monitored by the Gwent Wildlife Trust. A plaque is located next to the sluice control valves marking the opening of the facility on July 25, 1960 by Clifford Williams, Chairman of the Usk River Board.

Cardiff Parkway (Welsh: Parcffordd Caerdydd) is a planned railway station in the eastern region of Cardiff, and near to the boundary with the neighbouring city of Newport. The station is privately funded as part of the wider Cardiff Hendre Lakes business development.

Tredegar Park and Marshfield is an electoral ward for Newport City Council in south Wales. It was created in 2022 by combining the former wards of Tredegar Park and Marshfield. It is represented by three city councillors.

Marshfield (Welsh: Maerun) is a village and community of Newport, Wales. It sits approximately 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Newport, and 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Cardiff. The area is governed by Newport City Council. The community includes Castleton. Its population in 2011 was 3,054.

Pontprennau and Old St Mellons (Welsh: Pontprennau a Phentref Llaneirwg) is an electoral ward in Cardiff, Wales. Covering the communities of Old St Mellons and Pontprennau, it is represented by two councillors on Cardiff Council.

Wentlooge (Welsh: Gwynllŵg), sometimes known as Wentloog, is a community in the southwest of the city of Newport, South Wales, in the Marshfield ward. The community includes Peterstone Wentloodge and St. Brides Wentloodge and in 2011 had a population of 737.

Castleton (Welsh: Cas-bach) is a hamlet in the city of Newport, South Wales.

Coedkernew (Welsh: Coedcernyw) is a community in the south west of the city of Newport, South Wales, in the Marshfield ward. The parish is bounded by Percoed reen to the south, Nant-y-Selsig to the southwest, and Pound Hill to the west. The northern boundary is formed from Gwern-y-cleppa to junction 28 of the M4, then the A48 Cardiff Road. The eastern boundary is formed from the Ebbw River Bridge roundabout to the west of the International Rectifier plant, Duffryn Drive, along the southern edge of Tredegar House country park, Pencarn Lane and Percoed Lane. Despite being a mostly rural parish to the south and west, the north and east is a continuation of the Duffryn built-up area, and has seen large increases in population in recent years due to the continued suburbanisation of Newport; it grew from 574 in 2001 to 2,183 in 2011. This built-up area of Coedkernew forms a crescent around Duffryn and as such, much newly built housing in the Duffryn area actually falls within Coedkernew. This area contains the landmark Coedkernew footbridge over the A48, a large LG plant, three business parks (Imperial Park, Celtic Springs and Cleppa Park), the Patent Office, the Office for National Statistics, Tredegar House, the Celtic Horizons estate and St. Joseph's RC High School. The remains of a prehistoric burial chamber, believed to be neolithic, can be found at the northern boundary near Gwern-y-cleppa . Coedkernew is also considered to be one of the possible sites for early medieval activity in Gwynllwg, as well as a potential site for the church of Gwladys due to its proximity to the abandoned settlement of Pencarn.

Vaendre Hall (or Faendre Hall) is a large detached house in the Cardiff suburb of St Mellons. Set in four acres (1.6 ha) of grounds, it is bordered on three sides by St Mellons golf course. It was developed by the shipowner and industrialist John Cory in the mid 19th century in the Jacobethan style after William Burn from a farm and renamed Faendre Hall. It was completed in 1850. Cory hosted the politicians Henry Labouchère and George Robinson, 1st Marquess of Ripon, the former Viceroy of India, on their visits to Cardiff and Newport in 1887 and 1888 respectively. It was subsequently owned by sportsman and brewer William Brain (of Brains Brewery), and Liberal Party politician Richard Mathias, who was appointed a baronet of Vaendre Hall in June 1917. The house has a separate stable and entrance lodge.The hall and its 18 acres of land were sold for £7,000 at an auction in July 1893 to Dr. Hughes (equivalent to £790,000 in 2019). The farm adjoining the hall with two paddocks of land, a three stalled stable, wagon house, granary, two cattle sheds, poultry house, and a four roomed cottage was sold at the same sale for £1,150 to Mr. Richard Davies (equivalent to £130,000 in 2019).Vaendre Hall was put on sale in 2013 and 2018 for £2 million; it was subsequently reduced in 2020 to £1.65 million. It was listed as having seven bedrooms and five reception rooms with a billiard hall.Scenes from the 2014 Doctor Who Christmas special, Last Christmas, starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, were filmed at the house.The house has been listed Grade II since June 1977. In addition to the main hall the lodge and entrance gateway, the former stable block, and a circular garden seat in the grounds are all separately listed Grade II.The GWR 4900 Class railway locomotive Faendre Hall was built in 1935 and named after the house.
