The Old House in Milverton in Somerset, England is a Grade II* listed building dating from the late 14th and early 15th century, although there may also be remains of an earlier building on the site.The house is built of red sandstone with Hamstone dressings. It was built as a residence for the archdeacon of Taunton and was the home of Thomas Cranmer, in the 1530s while he held the post. It was only sold by the church in the mid 20th century.While the house was being renovated in the early 21st century, a Tudor wall painting of Henry VIII was discovered underneath the plaster as it was being removed. It is the only one of its kind in a domestic dwelling. It has been speculated that there is a secret message in the image., which has been dated to around 1541.

King's Castle is an Iron Age Hillfort 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of Wiveliscombe in Somerset, England. It is surrounded by two banks with a ditch between them. The inner wall ranges up to 2.5 metres (8.2 ft) high and the outer wall gets up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) high. Arrowheads, scrapers, and borers from as far back as the Neolithic period have been found at the site. A coin hoard of 1139 coins was found in a pot buried 0.30 metres (1 ft) deep.The site has been heavily damaged by repeated quarrying and ploughing.

Gaulden Manor (also Gavelden or Gaveldene) is a Grade II* listed country house to the southeast of Tolland, Somerset, England. It is a double storied building with interior plasterwork, as well as a garden consisting of herbs, old roses and a pond. A room referred to as a chapel has a c.1640 ceiling featuring an angel with trumpet on Judgment Day.

Ruby Country is the name given to the rural inland hinterland of north-west Devon, UK. It covers 45 parishes around the market towns of Holsworthy and Hatherleigh. These two towns were at the centre of the 2001 Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak, and although agriculture was directly affected, most local businesses suffered considerable financial hardship. As a result, the Ruby Country Initiative was established, a not for profit partnership, to help create a more robust and sustainable local economy, and to create an identity for the area. The project is supported by a number of organisations: Devon County Council, Devon Renaissance, Devon Wildlife Trust, Forestry Commission, Hatherleigh Area Project, Holsworthy Market and Coastal Town Initiative, North Devon's Biosphere Reserve, Torridge District Council and West Devon Borough Council.

Holme Moor & Clean Moor (grid reference ST095260) is a 10.8 hectare (26.7 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Wiveliscombe in Somerset, notified in 1987. Holme Moor and Clean Moor support a range of habitats associated with high water tables. Swamp and calcareous flush plant communities with a very restricted distribution in Somerset are present. Further diversity is provided by areas of marshy grassland and broadleaved semi-natural woodland. An unusual feature of the ground flora is the abundance of Marsh-marigold (Caltha palustris).
