Tolland, Somerset

Gaulden Manor (also Gavelden or Gaveldene) is a Grade II* listed country house to the southeast of Tolland, Somerset, England. It is a double storied building with interior plasterwork, as well as a garden consisting of herbs, old roses and a pond. A room referred to as a chapel has a c.1640 ceiling featuring an angel with trumpet on Judgment Day.

Ruby Country is the name given to the rural inland hinterland of north-west Devon, UK. It covers 45 parishes around the market towns of Holsworthy and Hatherleigh. These two towns were at the centre of the 2001 Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak, and although agriculture was directly affected, most local businesses suffered considerable financial hardship. As a result, the Ruby Country Initiative was established, a not for profit partnership, to help create a more robust and sustainable local economy, and to create an identity for the area. The project is supported by a number of organisations: Devon County Council, Devon Renaissance, Devon Wildlife Trust, Forestry Commission, Hatherleigh Area Project, Holsworthy Market and Coastal Town Initiative, North Devon's Biosphere Reserve, Torridge District Council and West Devon Borough Council.

King's Castle is an Iron Age Hillfort 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of Wiveliscombe in Somerset, England. It is surrounded by two banks with a ditch between them. The inner wall ranges up to 2.5 metres (8.2 ft) high and the outer wall gets up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) high. Arrowheads, scrapers, and borers from as far back as the Neolithic period have been found at the site. A coin hoard of 1139 coins was found in a pot buried 0.30 metres (1 ft) deep.The site has been heavily damaged by repeated quarrying and ploughing.

Roebuck Meadows (grid reference ST132354) is a 3.6 hectare (8.9 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Crowcombe in Somerset, notified in 1988. Roebuck Meadows have a very varied and herb-rich vegetation composed of mire and grassland communities together comprising an important example of lowland mire, which is a nationally scarce habitat. The meadows contain Cornish moneywort (Sibthorpia europaea), a nationally scarce plant restricted to south-west Britain.
