Nant Gwynant

Plas Gwynant is an educational resort in Snowdonia, Wales. This country estate also includes a woodland and riverside walks, as well as a parkland and 19-century garden set. It was built and developed by Daniel Vawdry in 1803. Today, the resort is owned by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, and most primary schools in Sandwell visit it on a yearly basis, providing skills and a good experience. West Bromwich Mountaineering Club renovated a disused barn in the grounds and have used it as their climbing hut since the early 1960s. The gardens and parkland are listed at Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.Plas Gwynant also became the home of historian James Anthony Froude, who arrived there with his wife in 1850. An account cited that notable figures such as Max Muller, Matthew Arnold, Arthur Clough, and Richard Powles spend their time with him there during spring and summer.

Llyn Gwynant is a lake in Snowdonia, Wales. Llyn Gwynant lies on the River Glaslyn, in the Nant Gwynant valley, and is about 1¼ miles (2 km) north east of Llyn Dinas; the village of Bethania lies between them. Snowdon lies 2 miles (3 km) to the north west. The lake is natural, having been formed by glacial action and is 120 acres (50 hectares) in size. It is a popular place for canoeing and kayaking with easy access from the A498 road which runs along its south bank. It was used as a filming location in the 2003 film 'Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life'. The view towards Llyn Gwynant and Moel Hebog is one of the most photographed in Snowdonia.

Lliwedd Bach is a top of Y Lliwedd in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. It is the last "top" on the main ridge of Y Lliwedd, the other being Y Lliwedd East Peak. A broad ridge at around 580m carries on northwards until the subsidiary summit of Gallt y Wenallt is reached. The summit is unmarked and offers good views of Y Lliwedd's cliffs, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) and Crib Goch.

Y Lliwedd East Peak is the twin top of Y Lliwedd in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. It is only 5 metres shorter than the main summit of Y Lliwedd. The summit marked by a small pile of stones, the views being similar to Y Lliwedd, except for Gallt y Wenallt being in view.

Y Lliwedd is a mountain, connected to Snowdon in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. Its summit lies 898 metres (2,946 ft) above sea level. The eastern flanks are steep cliffs rising above Glaslyn and Llyn Llydaw. Y Lliwedd is the most conspicuous of the peaks for those who approach Snowdon via the Miners' and Pyg tracks. Few that summit Snowdon continue over to Y Lliwedd as the challenge of Wales' highest peak is enough, leaving Y Lliwedd quiet and peaceful even when queues are forming at the summit of Snowdon. Hikers and mountaineers often pass over Y Lliwedd when walking the Snowdon Horseshoe. The noted British climber George Mallory undertook many of his early climbs here. It was also the site of considerable training activity for the 1953 British Everest Expedition. The north face of Y Lliwedd was explored in the late 19th century and in 1909 was the subject of the first British climbing guide, The Climbs on Lliwedd by J. M. A. Thomson and A. W. Andrews. Two subsidiary peaks of Y Lliwedd are listed as Nuttalls: Lliwedd Bach 818 metres (2,684 ft): SH628532 and Y Lliwedd East Peak 893 metres (2,930 ft): SH623532.

Llyn Dinas is a lake near Beddgelert, Gwynedd in north Wales. It is formed by the River Glaslyn. Llyn Dinas lies on the valley floor a few miles north of Beddgelert at an altitude of about 55 metres above sea level. It has an area of 60 acres (240,000 m2) and is fairly shallow, with the maximum depth only 10 metres. The lake offers good fishing for salmon and trout. It takes its name from the nearby Dinas Emrys, a rocky and wooded hill just downstream of the lake where the remains of both medieval and older fortifications have been found. A rock near the lake named Carreg yr Eryr (The stone of the eagle) was said in a charter of 1198 to mark the spot where the boundaries of the three cantrefs of Aberconwy, Ardudwy and Arfon met. According to Giraldus Cambrensis an eagle used to perch on it once a week, anticipating battle between the men of the three cantrefs.

Gallt y Wenallt is a subsidiary summit of Y Lliwedd in Snowdonia National Park, north Wales. It lies at the end of the north ridge. Its northern face is reputed to be the longest slope in Snowdonia, being close to 2000 ft. It is also the last nail in the "completist's" Snowdon Horseshoe. The summit is grassy and is marked with a small cairn. In clear visibility, the view down to Llyn Gwynant is regarded as one of the finest in Snowdonia.It is the resting place of famous oil man and sailor, Emrys Nye Hughes.

Llyn Llydaw (from the Welsh meaning Brittany lake) is a natural lake in Snowdonia National Park on the flanks of Snowdon, Wales' highest mountain. This long thin lake has formed in a cwm about one-third of the way up the mountain. It is one of the most visited lakes in the United Kingdom. Thousands of people every year visit Snowdon and many walk past this lake on the Miners' Track.

Dinas Emrys (Welsh for 'Emrys's city') is a rocky and wooded hillock near Beddgelert in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. Rising some 76 m (250 ft) above the floor of the Glaslyn river valley, it overlooks the southern end of Llyn Dinas in Snowdonia. Little remains of the Iron Age hillfort or castle structures that once stood here, save its stone ramparts and the base of a keep [Grid reference SH 60669 49228]. Some believe the castle was erected by Llewelyn the Last to guard the road to the mountain pass of Snowdon.

Yr Aran is a mountain peak on a ridge radiating south from Snowdon, Wales' highest mountain, with beautiful views of the summit of Snowdon, Moel Hebog and the Nantlle Ridge. Although no paths are marked on maps, the ascent is easily made as a detour from the Rhyd Ddu path or the Watkin Path up Snowdon.

Glaslyn (Welsh: Blue lake) is a lake in the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, north-west Wales.

Crib Goch is described as a "knife-edged" arête in the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, Wales. The name means "red ridge" in the Welsh language. The highest point on the arête is 923 metres (3,028 ft) above sea level. All routes which tackle Crib Goch are considered mountaineering routes in winter or scrambles in summer—meaning that they must cross "graded territory" as defined in Steve Ashton's Scrambles in Snowdonia. The easiest of these lines (the ‘bad step’ part of the route) is given a scrambling grade of Grade 1 (the most difficult being Grade 3—routes more difficult than Grade 3 are considered rock climbs).
