Arrow High School

The South Hills are a low mountain range of the Transverse Ranges, within the San Gabriel Valley in eastern Los Angeles County, California.The South Hills are north of the Interstate 210 Freeway, in the southern part of the city of Glendora, with the western portion of the hills in the City of Glendora's South Hills Park. They are north of the unincorporated town of Charter Oak and northwest of the city of San Dimas.

Charter Oak Unified School District (COUSD) is a unified school district located in Covina, California, serving nearly 5,000 students in the unincorporated community of Charter Oak and portions of the cities of Covina, Glendora and San Dimas, and the unincorporated community of West San Dimas. The superintendent is Jeffrey Jordan.

Charter Oak is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, approximately 26 miles (42 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. The population was 9,310 at the 2010 census, up from 9,027 at the 2000 census. Charter Oak is located in the eastern San Gabriel Valley, situated along Arrow Highway in between Covina to the south, Glendora to the north and San Dimas to the east. Residents tend to refer to the CDP portion as the "unincorporated part of Covina", or simply as "Covina". Originally a small agricultural town (primarily citrus orchards) centered on the intersection of Arrow Highway and Bonnie Cove Avenue, population growth greatly expanded the area recognized as "Charter Oak". Since the 1960s, it has been known as a "bedroom community" suburb of Los Angeles and commercial agriculture is nearly gone. Today, the generally accepted boundaries of historical Charter Oak are I-210 to the north, Valley Center Avenue to the east, Covina Hills Road to the south and Grand Avenue to the west, corresponding to the boundaries of Charter Oak Unified School District. However, the actual CDP area is notably smaller in the present day.

Charter Oak High School is a four-year comprehensive secondary school in the Charter Oak Unified School District. It is located in the City of Covina, California, in the San Gabriel Valley east of Los Angeles. The school serves 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders from the communities of Covina, Azusa and Glendora. Enrollment in 2016-17 was 1,566. Charter Oak High School, which opened in 1959, is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.Charter Oak High School was named a California Distinguished School in 1996 and 2007 and a 2015 Gold Ribbon School.The school also was named one of the top 1,500 high schools in the country by Newsweek magazine in 2009.

Life Pacific University (LPU) is a private Christian Bible college endorsed by the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel and located in San Dimas, California. LPU serves as the denomination's flagship institution for higher education.

Glendora High School (GHS) is located in Glendora, Los Angeles County, California, United States.

West San Dimas is an unincorporated community in the eastern part of Los Angeles County in the U.S. state of California. The population was 309 according to the 2000 census. Locally, the area is known as "unincorporated Covina" and "unincorporated San Dimas". The area is an enclave of San Dimas, being located in the southwestern portion of the city. Covina is the city name for home addresses in the area, even though the area is unincorporated.

San Dimas High School is a secondary school located in San Dimas, California, in the United States. It is part of the Bonita Unified School District. Most of the students come from Lone Hill Middle School which shares the same city block as the High School. The school has a student body of 1,296 and an API score of 839. The mascot is the Saint and was originally depicted as a knight slaying a dragon. The school is also referred to by students as SD. Its colors are royal blue and bright gold.

Glendora station is an under construction light rail station in the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located near the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and Ada Avenue along the Pasadena Subdivision right-of-way in Glendora, California. It will be served by the A Line. It is currently under construction as part of the Foothill Extension Project and is slated to open in December 2024.

Glendora is a city in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, California, 26 miles (42 km) east of Los Angeles. As of the 2020 census, the population of Glendora was 52,558. Known as the "Pride of the Foothills", Glendora is nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Its downtown area, locally known as the Glendora Village, hosts dozens of restaurants, cafes, shops, and boutiques along Glendora Avenue with many community events scheduled throughout the year. Neighborhoods and residences in Glendora reflect the city's history and range from Queen Annes, to Folk Victorians, early 20th-century bungalows, to ranch style homes, to mid-rise multi-family residential complexes, to modern mansions. Glendora's most expensive neighborhoods contain many very large, secluded, estate homes with views across the San Gabriel Valley to Downtown Los Angeles. Glendora is bordered by Azusa and the unincorporated community of Citrus to the west, San Dimas to the east and south, Covina and the unincorporated community of Charter Oak to the south, and the San Gabriel Mountains range to the north.

The Glendora Bougainvillea, in Glendora, California, is the largest bougainvillea in the United States. The bougainvillea was designated a California Historical Landmark (No. 912) on October 14, 1977, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 7, 1978, as Site #78000683. The R.H. Hamlins, early citrus growers, planted the bougainvillea in 1901. The bougainvillea vine is growing up 94-foot palm trees. The plant has grown 600 feet down Bennett Avenue and also 600 feet down Minnesota Avenue. The vine also has grown 1200 feet on both sides of orange trees on the land owned by Dr. and Mrs. L.J. Pittman. The original parent of the bougainvillea vine arrived in 1870 by a whaling ship. The exact location of the original Glendora bougainvillea plant is not known. The California Historical Landmark marker is at 402 East Bennett Avenue. The marker was placed there by the L.J. Pittman family and the State of California in 1977. The bougainvillea's placement on the National Register of Historic Places gives the plant federal protection provided by the Department of the Interior. It also makes the plant eligible for a grant-in-aid under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The bougainvillea plant is a thorny ornamental vine, native to South America, and can be found from Brazil to Peru and down to Argentina. The plant is named after the first Frenchman to cross the Pacific Ocean, Louis Antoine de Bougainville.The bougainvillea's peak bloom is in the months of June and July. Two species of bougainvillea are found in Glendora: Bougainvillea glabra and Bougainvillea spectabilis.

San Dimas (Spanish for "Saint Dismas") is a city in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California, United States. At the 2020 census, its population was 34,924. It historically took its name from San Dimas Canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains above the northern section of present-day San Dimas. San Dimas is bordered by the San Gabriel Mountains range to the north, Glendora and Covina to the west, La Verne to its north and east side, Pomona to its south and east side, Walnut and the unincorporated community of Ramona to the southwest, and the unincorporated community of West San Dimas, which is an enclave in the southwestern portion of the city.
