Glendora, California

Glendora station is an under construction light rail station in the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located near the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and Ada Avenue along the Pasadena Subdivision right-of-way in Glendora, California. It will be served by the A Line. It is currently under construction as part of the Foothill Extension Project and is slated to open in December 2024.

The Glendora Bougainvillea, in Glendora, California, is the largest bougainvillea in the United States. The bougainvillea was designated a California Historical Landmark (No. 912) on October 14, 1977, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 7, 1978, as Site #78000683. The R.H. Hamlins, early citrus growers, planted the bougainvillea in 1901. The bougainvillea vine is growing up 94-foot palm trees. The plant has grown 600 feet down Bennett Avenue and also 600 feet down Minnesota Avenue. The vine also has grown 1200 feet on both sides of orange trees on the land owned by Dr. and Mrs. L.J. Pittman. The original parent of the bougainvillea vine arrived in 1870 by a whaling ship. The exact location of the original Glendora bougainvillea plant is not known. The California Historical Landmark marker is at 402 East Bennett Avenue. The marker was placed there by the L.J. Pittman family and the State of California in 1977. The bougainvillea's placement on the National Register of Historic Places gives the plant federal protection provided by the Department of the Interior. It also makes the plant eligible for a grant-in-aid under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The bougainvillea plant is a thorny ornamental vine, native to South America, and can be found from Brazil to Peru and down to Argentina. The plant is named after the first Frenchman to cross the Pacific Ocean, Louis Antoine de Bougainville.The bougainvillea's peak bloom is in the months of June and July. Two species of bougainvillea are found in Glendora: Bougainvillea glabra and Bougainvillea spectabilis.

St. Lucy's Priory High School is a private, Roman Catholic, all-girls high school in Glendora, California, founded in 1962. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles and overseen by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Lucy's Priory.

Rubel Castle (also known as Rubelia) was established in Glendora, California, by Michael Clarke Rubel (April 16, 1940 – October 15, 2007) and is owned and operated by the Glendora Historical Society.In 1959, Rubel purchased a 1.7 acre citrus orchard on which the structure resides. He and his friends completed construction in 1986. Rubel Castle was constructed partly out of concrete, as well as nontraditional materials including scrap steel, rocks, bedsprings, coat hangers, bottles, and other repurposed materials that Rubel salvaged from the neighborhood as ranches and barns were giving way to tract houses. Chickens and other animals are frequently sighted.

Citrus Stadium is a 10,000-capacity multi-use stadium located in Glendora, California. The stadium, which features a running track, serves as home to American football, athletics, and soccer for Citrus College and the USL Premier Development League side FC Golden State Force. It is also the home stadium for several area High Schools, including Gladstone HS (Covina), Azusa HS (Azusa), and Glendora HS (Glendora).

Citrus College is a public community college in Glendora, California. The Citrus Community College District, which supports the institution, includes the communities of Azusa, Claremont, Duarte, Glendora and Monrovia. Founded in 1915 by educator Floyd S. Hayden, Citrus College is the oldest community college in Los Angeles County, California, and the fifth oldest in the state of California. Until 1961, the school was operated by the Citrus Union High School District and served the local area as both a high school and a junior college. During the 2019-2020 academic year, Citrus College enrolled 19,626 students. It conferred 2,444 degrees and awarded 2,175 certificates. 531 students graduated with honors (GPAs of 3.3 to 4.0). Citrus College currently offers 65 associate degrees, 88 certificates and skill awards in career technical education programs, and 29 associate degrees for transfer (ADTs). Its operating budget for 2020-2021 is $78 million.

Glendora Unified School District is a public school district based in Glendora, Los Angeles County, California, United States. The school district covers northern and central Glendora. The school board is composed of five members, at-large, elected to a four-year term. The elections are currently held on a Tuesday after the first Monday in November of odd-numbered years until the 2017 election, then they will switch to even-numbered years starting with the November 2020 election to coincide with the California General Election.

APU/Citrus College station is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located between Palm Drive and Citrus Avenue, a block north of Foothill Boulevard, in Azusa, California. It is named after the nearby Azusa Pacific University (APU) and Citrus College.This station opened on March 5, 2016, as part of Phase 2A of the Gold Line Foothill Extension Project, and currently serves as the northern terminus of the A Line. Phase 2B of the Foothill Extension will open to Pomona in December 2024.Due to heavy rain in March 2016, the previously delayed underpass construction on North Citrus Avenue was flooded. The Citrus Avenue extension and underpass were finally opened in September 2016.
