Begunjščica is a ridge mountain in the Karawanks. It rises from the western Smokuč mountain pasture (Slovene: Smokuška planina) to St. Anne (Sv. Ana) on its eastern side. The mountain has three main peaks, the highest being Big Peak (Veliki vrh, 2,060 metres or 6,760 feet). The western Middle Peak (Srednji vrh) lies a little lower, and the lowest is Begunje Mount Vrtača (Begunjska Vrtača, 1,997 m or 6,552 ft). Its southern slopes rise over the Draga Valley. The ascent of the mountain is relatively easy and possible throughout the year. In the winter and early spring conditions are favourable for ski touring.

The Prešeren Lodge at Stol (Slovene: Prešernova koča na Stolu; 2,174 m or 7,133 ft) is a mountain hut on the southern side of Mt. Stol in the Karawanks (northwestern Slovenia), just below the peak of Little Stol (Mali Stol; 2,198 m or 7,211 ft). It is named after the Slovenian poet France Prešeren. The first hut was built in 1909. During World War II, it was burnt down; it was rebuilt in 1966.

Stol (also Veliki Stol) or Hochstuhl, at 2,236 m (7,336 ft), is the highest mountain of the Karawanks and straddles the border between Slovenia and Austria.

The Loibl Pass (German: Loiblpass) or Ljubelj Pass (Slovene: prelaz Ljubelj) is a high mountain pass in the Karawanks chain of the Southern Limestone Alps, linking Austria with Slovenia. The Loibl Pass road is the shortest connection between the Carinthian town of Ferlach and Tržič in Upper Carniola and part of the European route E652 from Klagenfurt to Naklo.

The Bodental (Slovene: Boden, Carinthian Slovene: Póden) is a remote mountain valley in the Karawanks in the south of Carinthia, Austria. Located at just over 1,000 metres above sea level, the valley extends southwesterly and can be reached by road or walking trail from the Loibl Pass road. The area is part of the cadastral community of Windisch Bleiberg, and since the beginning of 1973 it has been part of the municipality of Ferlach. The valley is drained via Boden Creek (German: Bodenbach, Slovene: Žabnica), which flows over Tschauko Falls in the Tscheppa Gorge. Having one of the most beautiful valley closures of the Limestone Alps, the formerly agricultural 4 km-long mountain valley has developed into a popular leisure area. In summer there is hiking – for example, in the nature reserve or to the Klagenfurt Lodge (German: Klagenfurter Hütte). In winter, the valley is one of the few winter sport regions of the Karawanks with ski slopes, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, and sleigh riding.

Begunje na Gorenjskem (pronounced [ˈbeːɡunjɛ na ɡɔˈɾeːnskɛm]; German: Vigaun) is a village in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is known for being the location of the headquarters of the Elan Line company.

Rodine (pronounced [ˈɾoːdinɛ]) is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. In recent years, the settlement has grown northwards, further up the hill side and westwards to reach right to the outskirts of Smokuč. There are open fields and forests to the east and south of the village.

Poljče (pronounced [ˈpoːltʃɛ]) is a village near Begunje in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.

The Finžgar House is a house in the village of Doslovče in the Municipality of Žirovnica in Slovenia. It is the house where the Slovene writer Fran Saleški Finžgar was born in 1871. Administratively, it is part of the Upper Carniola Museum from Kranj. As well as a museum about the writer, it is a museum of rural architecture and life in the Upper Carniola during the late 19th century. It is outfitted with original furniture from the period, some from the actual house and some gathered from elsewhere.Until the 1930s, the house was a cultural centre and a meeting place of intellectuals from the area. In World War II, it was almost completely destroyed. It was converted into a museum in 1971, on the centenary of the writer's birth. The works were led by the ethnologist Janez Bogataj, whose mother was Finžgar's niece and who spent about 15 years in Finžgar's company. Finžgar was the initiator of the public arrangement of the Prešeren House in the nearby Vrba.

Doslovče (pronounced [ˈdoːslɔu̯tʃɛ]) is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is best known as the birthplace of the Slovene writer Fran Saleški Finžgar. His house has been a small museum since 1971.

Zgoša (pronounced [ˈzɡoːʃa]) is a settlement in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.

Breznica (pronounced [ˈbɾeːznitsa]) is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is the seat of the municipality. Most of the village has developed on the slopes of the Reber range, leaving open fields towards the south and east. To the west the built-up area has extended to Zabreznica.
